I honest to God think that this kind of homophobia is even worse than the loud, violent, obnoxious kind of homophobia. Because that kind of homophobia you can stand up against and seem like a decent human person. You can yell at somebody for ranting angrily about gay people and not have to be seen as gay or out yourself to said person. However if you try to stick up against the quieter, "less violent" homophobia, you run the risk of outing yourself a lot more than you would if you were just trying to stick up against to douche, because suddenly that persons not a douche, they're just "saying their opinion".
