Nobody's Point Of View:

The woman slid to a stop when she got back to the cave she had called home for years.  She looked back, making sure she wasn't followed, before entering inside. She smiled as she stared at the clear, running water that fell from the sides above, creating a small pond where some fish and frogs thrived. She remembered Elara first bringing her to this beautiful cave. It was where they had spent much of them I time together. The woman watched a few lightning bugs flew by her before making her way deeper in.
She sat down on one of the ledges and put her feet in the water, thinking about the humans she had come across. She had never come across others like her, almost thinking she was the last human alive. The more she thought about there being others like her, the more she wanted to see them, to interact with them. However, the thought of the ninja stars being thrown at her was a bit... unsettling. She didn't know what they were, but they looked sharp and dangerous. She began to wonder if she really appeared before them, would they attack her?
She heard movement coming from somewhere nearby and turned her head to see a gorgeous exceed sit up from where she lay on the other side of the small waterfalls. Her fur was as white as snow, with a few strands of crystal blue. Her eyes were a deep blue, like the ocean when night fall came. She wore a dark blue dress that flowed from the waist down. It was years ago that the woman had come across the exceed. The exceed had been traveling with her cousin before she decided to stay. The woman guessed the exceed's cousin continued to explore the world, but was sure she'd come around to visit soon.
The exceed yawned tiredly, rubbing her eyes, as the woman greeted warmly. "Hey, Shimmer."
The exceed, Shimmer, turned and stared at the woman for a long while before replying. "Oh hey, Y/N. What are you doing up so early?"
Y/N responded. "Well... I smelt a fire on the island and went to check it out. I found the source but..."
Shimmer raised a brow while flying over to Y/N lazily, waiting for Y/N to elaborate. "Yeah...?"
Y/N hesitated slightly, before looking at Shimmer and stating. "It was surrounded by people... like me."
Shimmer's eyes shot wide as she stared at Y/N in shock and disbelief. Silence overtook them for a few moments, them staring at each other. Shimmer blinked a few times before questioned. "I'm sorry, I think I'm really tired and hearing things, but - just to make sure - did you say... there are humans on Mallow?" Y/N nodded. "Wha— how? Mallow is literally off the map! Me and my cousin only discovered this place by chance."
Y/N stated quickly, putting her hands up in a surrendering motion. "I know! I know, okay, I do. Trust me, I've lived here my entire life and not one soul - well aside from you, your cousin, Elara, and the animals - has been here. I'm just as shocked as you are."
Shimmer hen questioned with her arms crossed. "Well, why the heck are you here and not, I don't know, there, talking to them, actually having a social life?"
Y/N showed Shimmer a ninja star that had been thrown at her. Shimmer took it from Y/N and observed it as Y/N admitted. "They threw that at me while I was hiding in the bushes." She added quickly when Shimmer snapped her head up in concern. "It didn't hit me! I dodged in time, but..."
Shimmer nodded slowly before looking back down at the weapon. "Yeah... well this is what is called a ninja star. It's a concealed weapon that's used to distract or misdirect, or at least according to what my Uncle Max said. I'm no expert on weapons, but I know for sure that these blades are sharp enough to penetrate the skin." Shimmer looked at Y/N skeptically. "You didn't cut yourself with this when you picked it up, right?"
"No, I was relatively careful." Y/N shook her head. "Since it's a weapon, does that mean they're enemies?"
Shimmer thought for a moment before she shrugged, tossing the ninja star to some ledge near by. "Maybe, I don't know. You did say you were in the bush, right?" Y/N nodded. "They probably thought you were some predator or something that was trying to hunt them. If you approached them, I'm sure they'd treat you like any other human. If not, then, yeah, they're definitely an enemy and it would be wise for us to either avoid contact with them or get them off the island as soon as possible. Who knows what they're after."
"Well, from what I heard, they were talking about some kind of job they were on or something."
Shimmer raised a brow, a hum escaping her. "Maybe they're some kind of explorers or treasure hunters?"
"But there's no treasure here..." Y/N paused, in thought, "is there?"
"Not that I've seen, no." Shimmer shook her head.
"So treasure hunters are off the list." Y/N mumbled. "Maybe they are explorers."
    "They could be settlers too."
Y/N nodded thoughtfully, before realizing what Shimmer was implying. "Wait, are you saying they're going to settle here?!"
    Shimmer simply shrugged in reply.
Y/N shook her head violently, standing up. "No, they can't settle here! What if Elara comes back? She's not going to want to come here if they're here!"
"Not to be a downer, Y/N," Shimmer flew off and picked up an exceed sized guitar,, "but I don't think Elara's coming back. She's already been gone for over a decade."
Y/N frowned and assured, more to herself than Shimmer. "She's coming back." She has to.
Shimmer shrugged again, her focus returning on her guitar as she began to tune it. Y/N hugged her legs, staring into the water. She refused to give up hope. Her mother would return... someday.
