In this world we all expect to die, even the supernatural beings. We came from the Earth and so we must return to the Earth.

Werewolves age many years slower than humans and witches. A curse was placed on the bloodlines of both creatures to keep them from lasting forever and to keep them from taking the power from the much weaker humans.

Werewolves are taught this from the age of three to the day they die. Death takes us all and He knows nothing of love or what hurt He causes others.

As a werewolf I am expected to memorize everything about our history. In doing so I will become the best leader to my ability. A Luna who is able to help her Alpha make decisions and a female with a mother's love. A mate who can be what she needs to for her pack and for her mate.

I sigh as I close the scroll of were history after reading it for the third time to make sure I'd missed nothing. Today was my 18th birthday and also the day I would find my mate. I brush my white blond hair quickly before braiding it to the side. I pull on my pure white dress with sapphire gems sewn into the bodice before sitting on a mat and begin lining my eyes with some khol. I place some baby blue paint on my eye lids.

I carefully look onto the looking glass to see my own reflection and that of the darkening sky behind me. I pin my braid intricately in a gold tiara. A cough sounds from behind me and I glance to see my brother standing in the doorway.

"Cassia, your beauty shines tonight and your mate will be howling at the moon for you." he chuckles and I roll my emerald eyes as I run to my brother and tackle him. His black hair shines in the newly risen moon light as he catches me, his sky blues eyes dancing with mischief.

"Have you been in the wine tonight, Arrius?" I ask glaring at him jokingly.

"Just a taste, sister, tonight is far to important for my drunkenness to ruin." he says a smirk on his lips. I huff and jump up walking from him. As I make my way down the hall I hear Arrius racing after me. "Cassia! Father wants you to be presented tonight no hiding in the crowd." I sigh and turn to my older brother.

"Why when he knows I hate being the center of attention!" I hiss knowing my green eyes were flickering black because my wolf was close to the surface. He reaches out to me cautiously, knowing that even with his future alpha title I was much stronger. I shifted at the early age of six, most weres shift at 15. I glare at him before turning to the stairs and placing a hand lightly on the rail. I sigh and force my wolf back before placing a small smile on my light pink lips. "Arrius are you coming?" I whisper glancing over my shoulder at him. He nods and walks over taking my hand in his. I skim my hand lightly over the concrete railing as we walk down the stairwell.

"People of Pompeii! I present to you my daughter Cassia and her brother Arrius!" my father's voice echoes around the room as we arrive at the bottom step. I glance around, holding my head high as to dispel any previous thoughts of my weakness. My father comes over and hugs me gently before taking my brother and disappearing into the crowd leaving me to mingle with the pack and the Dark side pack.

I sigh as once again I'm passed into another unmated male wolf's arms. He smirks at me and my body shivers in disgust at his slimy grip on my waist.

"Aren't you a famous she-wolf?" he asks and I try not to vomit.

"I suppose seeing as I'm an alpha's daughter." I whisper looking in his dull brown eyes. He smiles and leans in to capture my lips with his when a loud boom causes everyone to turn to the door. I gasp as I come face to face with Minerva, Isis and Jupiter. I bow immediately to the gods wondering what has happened for them to leave their palace.

"Cassia." Jupiter's voice booms and I stand slowly looking up to face them. "Cassia we have a very important person for you to meet." I raise an eyebrow carefully very curious as to who it may be.

"Mors, step forward." just the name sent shivers down my spine. I look around Mars and see the most breath takingly beautiful man. He had shoulder length curly black hair with liquid silver eyes. His tan skin shown in the moonlight, I slowly exhale hoping to calm my heart but I knew that it would never calm in his presence.

"Mate." the voice that met my ears was velvet soft and caressed my mind in such a way that I could just fall asleep to it forever.
