Chapter One: Paige's POV

My blond curls tumbled down my back perfectly. My lips were framed with a light pink, and sleeveless silverish-gold dress fitted my slim figure flawlessly. I added my heels and I was ready for the dinner.

I grabbed my clutch purse and made sure there's everything I need in there-phone, wallet, Student I.D, driver'd licence, and my camera. I took one last look at myself in the mirror before heading to the car.

I got in my VolksWagon and put the key in the ignition. The car hummed as I turned the key, and music flooded the car.

"Get out, get out, get out of my head,

And fall into my arms instead.

I don't, I don't, don't know what it is,

But you've got that one thing,

I need that one thing."

I hummed along to the music as I drove towards the restaurant. Memories filled my head and I let a tear escape my eye. I missed the boys. They were all of touring the world, and I was stuck in London, studying at University.

Sure I loved what I do-fashion, if you were wondering- but they're life is so much more interesting. They don't have me haunting them every where, but you can't go anywhere with out hearing about One Direction.

Anyway, I pulled up to the restaurant and turned of my car. I grabbed my purse and headed towards the restaurant. "Hello, do you have reservations?" A host asked, checking me out. "'Yes, under Harris," I said. "Okay, right this way," he said. He led me to a private room where my family stood.

"Happy birthday!" They all chorused. "Oh, Mum!" I exclaimed, running up to hug her. "And you, too, Peyton!" I said, hugging my sister. "And don't think you get off so easily, Patrick," I motioned to my six year old brother. "Happy birthday, bunny!" He said. I picked him up and held him on my hip. "Why thank you, kind Sir," I giggled.

"So, is Nan coming?" I asked hopefully. "I'm sorry, sweetie. She still isn't feeling too well," My Mum said sympathetically. "Oh," was all I could say. "So, where's Josh?" Mum asked. "He... couldn't make it," I lied. Honestly, I was terrified of Josh. He hadn't been taking his medicine, so he would hit me. And no one knew; I was too scared to tell.

"So, let's sit," I said, gesturing to a booth. My Mum nodded and we all squished in, Pat still on my lap. "How's school going?" Mum asked. "Great, actually! I was offered a promotion at work, too, because my boss saw my last project, and she said she needed someone to replace that snotty girl," I said, bouncing Pat on my knee.

"So, how are you're friends all doing?" I heard a voice from behind me. I whipped around to see none other than my childhood best friend and four other boys I've become super close with.

"Harry!" I exclaimed, jumping up to hug him, bringing Pat with me. We embraced and I moved on to hug Louis. "Happy Birthday!" He said to me as I let go. I hugged Zayn next, who wished me a happy birthday as well, and Liam said the same thing. Niall was last. I had always fancied Niall a little bit, but no one knew. Besides, I loved Josh, no matter how many times he hit me. It's like he scared me into loving him.

Anyway, I hugged Niall and Patrick refused to let go. "Pat, we gotta let go of Niall so Mum and Peyton can hug them," I cooed to him. "But, but he sounds cool. Talk," Patrick ordered. "Patrick, you gotta let go. I'll give you another hug later, though, okay?" Niall said kindly, handing Patrick back to me. I smiled at him and mouthed 'Thank you' while Patrick played with my hair.

"Hey boys," My Mum said, hugging them. Peyton was 'fan-girling' or whatever they call it. "Hey Pey," Harry said, smiling and waving. Retard mode activated "H-h-hi Harry," she stammered. "Do I get a hug?" Harry asked. "Yeah, sure," Peyton said. She hugged him and tried to hold in a squeal. She failed.

"Hey, Pey?" I asked. "Hm?" She said. "If you're gonna spaz, do it in the toilet," I said, pointing towards the door. She glared at me but headed to the toilets. I laughed at her scream that you could hear through the door. "How old is she now?" Lou asked. "13, 14 in May," I said, bouncing Patrick on my hip. "And how old is this little fella'?" Zayn asked, poking Pat's stomach. "Pat, how old are you?" I asked. "Are you 18?" He shook his head with the cutest smile. "Are you... 4?" I questioned. "Nooo," he laughed. "How old are you, then?" I questioned. He held up six fingers.

"Good!" I laughed as he giggled.

"It's time for the food to be served, do you wanna move to the big table so we can all sit there?" Mum asked. I looked at the boys and nodded. We all sat down, I was in the middle of Pat's booster seat, and Niall.

"I really missed you guys," I randomly blurted out. Payton joined us at the table again, her make up re-done and her hair flattened out. I rolled my eyes. Stop trying to impress them. You're not legal!

"So did we, love," Harry said. I smiled sadly at him. He had no idea how much I needed him. Josh was a psychopath, and I really needed my Haz to protect me. Or my Nialler. I had known Harry longer, but I still loved Niall. Not like that, as a friend. I might have an itty bitty 'crush' on Ni, but not too much. I mean, can you blame me? Have you seen him? Exactly.

In seconds a plate of salad was placed in front of me. Everyone else had chicken, but I stuck with my vegetarian route. "Still don't eat meet, I see," Liam commented. "Yup," I said, stuffing a forkful of lettuce in my mouth. "Gasp," Niall said dramatically. "How can you live with out meat? How can anyone live with out meat?" I rolled my eyes and ignored his rant.

"What's on your mind, Paige?" Niall whispered to me, nudging me. "Nothing," I whisper-lied back. "Seriously, what's up?" He asked again. i shook my head, giving him the 'I'll tell you later' look. He nodded and went back to stuffing chicken in his mouth.

The rest of the party went by quickly. I had cake, then said my good byes to my Mum and Pat. The boys invited me and Peyton, not sure why they invited her, to go back to their hotel. She agreed instantly. And I had to stay with Peyton for the rest of the week! Insane!

Anyway, I goy into my car, ready to follow the boys. I pulled out behind them and honked loudly, laughing as I did so. "What was that for?" Peyton asked. "Lou drives slow," I whined. "Alright," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Why do you have such an attitude?" I asked, turning behind the boys' van. "I do NOT!" She said deffensively. "Please, Pey," I rolled my eyes. "You act like you're in charge of everyone and I'm sick of it! And then you go out and flirt with eighteen year olds!" "I wasn't flirting!" She said. "Peyton." I said. "Fine, so what? Maybe I like Harry a little. Is it that big of a deal?" She exclaimed. "Yes, because you're thirteen!" I practically yelled. I parked behind the boys and turned off the car, but didn't get out.

"I miss the way it used to be between us!" I exclaimed, tears rimming my eyes. "Well, just deal with me! You've changed, too," she yelled. "Becuase I had to change!" I said before I could stop myself. "He was hitting me! He still does! I can't be myself when I'm living in constant fear! You didn't have to deal with it!"

I got out of the car and slammed the door, leaving Peyton behind. I ran to the closest boy I saw-Niall, I think- and sobbed in his shoulder. God, I still feel like he's gonna come and hit me. I. Told. Her.
