Love Dust

BEEP BEEP. BEEP BEEP. my alarm sings. right on 7:30. it's a new day. it's also my first day for a new highschool. my name is ammara, i'm  17 and in year 11. my mum and dad split up back when i was only 9. my mum broke it off with my dad and he committed suicide because he didn't want to live without her. times were tough, but mum and i pulled through. i have a little brother named jessie and he is 6. we haven't told him about dad. and not planning too until he is a bit older. 

time to get dressed. i put on the summer uniform, not that bad. way better than my old schools uniform.. i whack some makeup on and brushed my long blonde hair. it's 8:00 now. better leave! i shove a piece of toast in my mouth. and walk out the door on my way to the bus stop. 

once the bus finally gets here i hop on and off to school. i'm so nervous. i stare out the window thinking of everything that would happen. i miss my best friend rita though.. it was so hard to say goodbye to her. i felt so bad for living her in darwin, but i had to move to sydney. just too many bad memories there.. 

the bus doors open and everyone gets off.. i get my map out so i know where to go. the front office is right..... there. "hello! um, excuse me. but, i'm the new student. ammara mitchel?" i say to the lady at the front desk. "oh hello darling! i'm mrs.young! the principal! i've assigned a boy in most of your classes to show you around! his name is john pearce... and here he comes now!" i turn around and i see this tall, muscly boy standing there. "hi i'm john!" he puts his hand out to shake. "i'm ammara. it's nice to meet you." i shake his hand. "well of you children pop!" mrs.young says.

"what are your first classes?" he asks. 

"umm, let me check..... i have double p.e"

"so do i!" he smiles. i smile back.

"oh aye bro! we got p.e first up. wanna go race on the track for warm up?" am i seeing double? he looks just like him?!

"um, can't right now len. busy."

"who is this?" he smirks.

"this is ammara. the new student from darwin!" john answers.

"hi, len? is it?" i giggle and put my hand out.

"hi ammara. yeah it's len, or lenny. whatever." he shakes my hand. 

"as you can see, we're kinda twins.." john says.

"oh ya, no shit man." lenny says and whacks him.

i laugh at them. they both look at me at the same time and say what? and i laughed even harder.

"what are we doing in gym? like, what sport?" i ask.

"gymnastics. i'm dreading it." len says.

"are you serious! i love gymnastics!" i squeal with excitement.

"at least one of us will have fun.." john says.

the bell goes as we walk into the gym. "we have a new student today, class. her name is ammara!" the sport teacher mr.brooke says as he motions me to come up the front with him. "tell us something about yourself, ammara." i stand there awkwardly and i had to think for a moment.. "um, hi. i'm ammara, i'm from darwin.. i have blue eyes.. love gymnastics and swimming...." the class clap. i have no idea why though.. "okay fantastic! let's get to it! ammara stay with john, he will show you what to do." 

john, len and i walk over to the floor. our group started here.

this tall girl, with long chocolate brown hair walks over to us. "oh hey guys! hi ammara! i'm yasmin!" i put my hand out to shake but she declines... she went into for a hug. "oh hello yasmin! pleasure to meet you!" she smiles then turns to john. "hi baby!" she gives him a kiss. i guess she was his girlfriend. "oh and hi len!" she gives him a friendly hug. "yasmin, stop socializing and start on floor." mr.brooke says. "sorry mr.brooke!" she runs out onto floor and does a cartwheel into splits. then skips off. "have a try, ammara." he nudges me forward. i get a run up, then go flipping through the air, i land then jump into a cartwheel splits. then skip off also. then it was john and len's turn left now. they ran together and did flips at the same time. it looked so cool. 

before i knew it, the day was already over. my first day. it was so good. i made 3 friends! yay! 

~after school~

"hey ammara! can i call you mara?" yasmin asks me.

"haha sure, thats what all my friends used to call me.." i smile.

"okay! can i have your number? i think we are off to a good friendship!" she smiles.

"sure!" i write it down  on a piece of paper and give it to her.

"i'll be sure to call you soon!" yasmin says as she gets in her car. yasmin is already 18.

"can i have your number too?" a voice says so innocently.

"aw sure, len." i write it down and pass it to him. 

"i'll call you soon." he winks.

i laugh as he walks over to his car. him and john are also already 18. man, i wish i could drive. but i gotta take the bloody bus.  

 ~LENNY'S POV~ 

"ammara is cute." i say to john as we get in the car. he's driving. "i know man, she'd be perfect for you. like, you just match.. and i feel really gay for saying that.."

"yeah you sounded pretty gay. but the thought counts.... anyway, i got her number tonight though.."

"call her bro, see if she wants to go to the movies tonight!"

i pulled my phone out and dialed her number. i felt butterflies in my stomach. i've never felt like this before.. "hello?" she answered.

"hi ammara, it's len!"

"oh wow, um hi len! whats up?"

"i was just.. erm.. wondering.. if you wanted to go see a movie later?"

"sure! is john and yasmin coming?"

"um... like a double date? i mean, not a date, just an.... um.. outting?!"

"haha, it's a date. pick me up at 7:30. bye len."

i hung up the phone. "STUPID. STUPID. STUPID!" i put my head onto the window. "you panicked man, you panicked hard."

"i know! please come. it will make things less awkward then it already is.."

"okay man, i'll call yasmin now." he parked his car at our house. john and i already moved out, we wanted to live alone.

~SIENNA'S POV~

"hey mum, i'm home!"

"hi honey, how was your first day?"

"it was great! i made three friends! and we're going out tonight! to the movies."

"oh thats great honey!"

"he's picking me up at 7:30."

"... HE'S?"

"yes mum."

"hm. okay.."

"a girl is coming too.. it's gonna be like a double date. yasmin is dating john, and len is john's twin brother!"

"do you think they're attractive?"

"yes. they're pretty hot."

"hm okay. well have fun honey! i'm going out with a few girlfriends. it's ladies night! woooo hooo!"

"bye mum, love you!"

TIME TO GET READY.

since my bus was late home from school, i didn't get home until around 4:30. i chucked on my high waisted green shorts, then put on a black singlet. it was stinking hot. i waved my hair a bit, but not a big fuss. i wipe my makeup off then re-do it. i hear a a car horn from out the front. 

~LENNY'S POV~

as soon as ammara stepped out of her house, it felt as if everything was going in slow motion. she walked over into the car and smiled. "let's go!" she smiled and looked at me. i didn't realize how close i was to her face. she looked kind of scared.. i started to drive. 

"what movie do you want to see?" i asked.

"i want to see the katy perry movie!" ammara said.

"same!" yasmin agreed.

"yeah let's see that. it looks good as!" john agreed also.

as we were walking into the cinema, i saw john and yasmine hold hands. it made me so jealous. i don't just want ammara.  i need ammara.
