Jin's ears twitched as the cold rain pelted down on him. Jin hated rain and he hated his ears getting wet even more. It was so dark outside and it was only around three in the afternoon but it felt so much later. Jin's stomach rumbled unhappily and was mimicked almost immediately by the thunder rolling in. Jin huddled up beside the small coffee shop he had found and willed his hunger and the thunder to go away. He was deathly afraid of storms but since he was now homeless, he would have to suffer them out.
It had been Jin's hunger that had led him to the shop. He hadn't eaten anything in over two days and he could barely find enough water to satisfy himself. He had been hoping he might find some kind man or woman who might want him and take him in but as luck would have it, no one even spared Jin a glance. Everyone was rushing around as the bad weather moved in, not even seeing the small kitten hybrid hunched up against the shop.
His ears twitched again and he slowly brought his hands up to cover them, rubbing over them slightly and purring as a result. He loved his hair and ears being played with or stroked but no one ever rubbed on him. It made Jin sad to know he was so unwanted. It was getting cold, too, as the wind picked up and the rain began to fall a little harder. Jin wrapped his arms around himself and tried to hunker down against the brick wall of the building, whimpering a bit to himself and trying to fight back tears. He had cried enough when he had been abandoned. He didn't have time for that again. He curled up on himself, burying his head in his lap and trying to ignore the way the thunder boomed around him.
"Hey, what are you doing?" a voice called out and Jin whipped his head up.
A young man stood just a few feet away. He was holding an umbrella and a bag of food. When Jin saw the bag his stomach once again rumbled and he quickly put a hand over his tummy to try and stop the noise from coming out. It did nothing and left Jin red faced and embarrassed. The boy still stood there, however, looking on with a confused gaze. To Jin he looked well to do, dressed nicely in name brand clothing. Jin could see he had a little scar on his cheek but otherwise his features were entirely flawless.
"I-I'm not doing anything wrong, I swear!" Jin picked himself up into a sitting position. He didn't know this man and he wasn't sure if he would be angry with him for being there, "I don't have a home – I-I'm s-sorry, I'll g-go..."
Jin tried to pick himself up to stand but his legs gave out on him. He was still shaking from fear of the weather and it didn't help that the rain had begun to fall even harder now. He was also weak from not eating or drinking anything besides the dirty water he could get out of public restroom taps – and that was if he was lucky. He fell to the ground with a small squeak. Jin barely caught himself, scraping his palms on the concrete as he tried to pick himself up once more. He hadn't realized just how weak he was until he had stopped walking and his legs didn't seem to want to work anymore.
The young man was beside him in a flash and Jin shrank back. His master would hit him if he couldn't complete a task and he had no reason to believe this man would be any different. That's how things worked, wasn't it? Full blooded humans had complete control over hybrids. Hybrids were just toys – property – and they had to learn to be obedient. Anything less than obedience was met with swift punishment.
"I'm sorry!" he cried out. Jin covered his ears, waiting for the strike to come. His ears were sensitive and he had learned rather quickly that he would be punished by his master either hitting them or tugging on them until Jin fell to the ground crying. He already felt like crying and this added stress only made matters worse. Before Jin knew it, a few tears streaked down his face.
