Ashlyn's P.O.V
I woke, instantly realizing that Andrew was gone. I opened my eyes, looking around the dim room for him. My eyes went to the desk, where a shadow was outlined in the darkness, "What are you doing over there?"
There was silence, Then a voice that was distinctly not Andrew's sounded, "Watching you."
My panic started to rise as Josh did. He strode across the room, an expression on his face that told me nothing good was going to happen, "Get up."
I complied in silence, not wanting to anger him further. It was at times like this that I cursed Andrew for not having a lock on his door. Josh grabbed my wrist, tugging me toward the open door, the door that I hadn't even noticed was open, "Where's Andrew?"
Josh laughed, "Would it be too cliché if I said he was sleeping with the fishes."
My heart pounded in my chest. Andrew couldn't be dead, Josh would murder his own brother, would he? I didn't think so, but then again, I had never thought Josh capable of doing this, taking me against my will.
Josh pulled me out the door, down the hall to the front door, then finally into his car, forcing me into the seat. He climbed in on the driver's side, and turned the keys in the ignition.
My voice was a mere whisper, hardly audible over the groaning of the engine, "Where are you taking me?"
"Somewhere where you won't be able to have a say in your future."
His expression scared me more than his words did.
Andrew's POV
Being knocked out, hog-tied, and put in a pond with fish swimming in my pants was not the way I had wanted to spend my morning. I was supposed to be with Ashlyn. Who from the way Josh said, "You will never see Ashlyn again," I got the picture that he had taken her and was on his way out.
My only hope was that he wouldn't hurt her, and that someone would find and untie me so I could go after them, because one thing that Josh had also said, which was really stupid, was "I'm taking her somewhere were everything can be settled my way, somewhere that I want to go, have always wanted to go," which meant he had taken his birthday present from me, and was now on his way to Italy.
Twisting, I tried to reach my phone in my back pocket. After a couple of seconds I was able to nab it, and with multiple tries, was able to ring for back up.
Derek answered on the third ring, "Shoot."
"Okay, D, I need you to send some of the guys of to the airport to head off Josh and Ashlyn, he took her, I will explain later, and I need you D to come here and untie me."
"No problem," Then the line went dead.
Josh's POV.
Nothing had gone the way I had wanted it to, now it was up to me to put everything right, put everything where I wanted it to be.
I don't care that Ashlyn is pregnant with Andrew's baby, so long as she stayed with me. By force or by choice, it didn't matter to me.
I had had my eyes on Ashlyn since the first time I saw her, the first time I had spoken to her, and now it was my chance to move in on her, only to have Andrew come in and ruin all the ground work I had built.
He had been right about the three girls, but that gave him no right to interfere, no right to take from me what was rightfully mine by nature.
Italy was the only safe place to go, and it didn't worry me about Andrew's connection in being able to find people, I was going to one of the most obvious place's where he would never think to look.
Pulling into the airport was no trouble, it was just getting her out of the car that was. But I never got the chance to even try. After opening the door, a group of guys surrounded the car.
One stepped forward, and after a close inspection I knew he was one of Andrew's guys, though I didn't know how he managed to do it, "Step away from the car."
I smiled, "And who's going to make me," I slowly made my way to the other side of the car, toward Ashlyn.
Everyone tensed up at my movement, "I mean it, you don't want to push your luck, step away and let her go."
I laughed at the idea he provoked, before quickly dodging one of the guys, diving for the door, and gabbing Ashlyn around the wrist.
I must have grabbed her too hard, because she flinched, but my grip didn't last long as a shot rang out, pain radiating through my back, before everything went dark.
Ashlyn's POV.
I screamed as Josh feel to the ground. Even after everything he had done, he didn't deserve to be shot for it. I took a step toward his un-moving body, but one of the guys around me stepped forward and stopped me, "I don't think that's a good idea."
I pushed him away, "I don't care, I want to make sure you didn't kill him," I knelt down, feeling his neck for a pulse, nothing. I felt his wrist, nothing. Turning him over, I put my ear to his mouth, no breath. I pulled back, looking for the rise and fall of his chest, not even one movement. I looked at his eyes, they were glazed, seeing nothing, comprehending nothing around him. He was dead, and it was their fault.
I stood, tears clouding my eyes, shouting, "You killed him, you shot him for no good reason, you're all murderers."
Any reply they were going to make was cut off as a car screeched around the corner, pulling to a stop at the back of Josh's car, causing some of the boys to scatter.
Andrew climbed out of the car, sprinting straight for Ashlyn, "What's wrong?"
I curled into him, my tears soaking his shirt, "He's dead, Drewie, he's dead."
The only thing that met her ears was grave silence.
