"Matthew, I've got bad news."
Matt was writing something on a pad of paper, trying desperately to figure out the new indie game that his fans were going crazy about. He looked up at Stephanie, his wife, looking at her phone with a worried look on her face.
"Mark's gone missing, too."
"Seriously? That makes two youtubers, after Jack. And how many others after that?"
"19. 19 kids, adults, teenagers- they're all missing." Stephanie rolled up her screen to read a bit more of the article.
"And of course, he was playing 'Kingdom of Hate.' So was Jack, and at least 10 of the others went missing while the game was playing on their screens. Their parents or friends reported that one second they were playing the game, and in the blink of an eye, they were gone."
"Jesus..." Matt put down the notepad. "What is it about that game that makes people want to disappear?"
"Maybe they don't want to. Maybe they have to."
Matt shivered. "I'm going to try it out myself soon. Everyone's asking me about my opinion. Plus, no one knows what happens when you die in the game. Youtube is full of speedruns, but no one has lost the game yet."
"Are you sure that's a good idea? Listen, I know that it's just a game, and it's not like the game is evil, but still, I feel like you should have some backup or something." Stephanie said, sitting down neck to him. She placed a hand on his leg. Matt smiled and placed his hand over hers, squeezing it tightly.
"I already thought of that. Jason and Chris are live-streaming it. We'll have hundreds of witnesses."
"So we're doing it on GTLive?" Steph asked.
"Well, I am. You have that dentist's appointment on Friday. I can do it myself, don't worry."
"I can cancel if you want."
"No, you don't have to do that. You've already canceled twice." Then, as a joke, he added. "You mustn't hide from the cavities."
Steph laughed and pulled her hand away quickly. "I do not have cavities!"
"Well, go to the appointment tomorrow and we'll see. And I promise, I can handle 'Kingdom of Hate' without you."
*A/N: I'll fix the cover later. For now, you get the psychedelic castle gate. Maybe I'll photoshop Steph in later.*
