Me and the boy had danced for a while before we sat down to talk.
"You look very pretty. What I can see of you at least. The mask kinda covers- I'm gonna stop talking." He looks down and I laugh.
"What's your favorite food?" He asks me. I think about it for a moment.
"Watermelon." I state. And no, that's not just because of my obsession with Daniel Seavey. I actually, genuinely love watermelon.
He freezes and looks up at me, eyes wide, as if I had just told everyone in the world a secret of his I wasn't supposed to tell.
"Mine too." He smiles and looks down. "And sorry about Co- my friend earlier. The one that pushed me towards you. He thought I thought you were pretty." My eyebrows raise and I look at him skeptically.
"Do you not think I'm pretty?" I ask him, trying my best not to laugh as what I can see of his face goes from laughing to stiff in 0.5 seconds.
"No! That's not what I meant! Not at all! I would never-" I cut him off.
"So you do think I'm pretty?" I laugh.
"I uh- Uhm- uh- yeah. I do." He sighed and looked down at his hands, twiddling his thumbs.
"That's cute. Have you never talked to a girl before?" I let out a little laugh and looked at his hands. He played instruments. "You play instruments. Which ones?"
He looked up and smiled, happy that someone asked him about what seemed to be his passion.
"A bunch. I'll spare you." He sighed and looked back down at his hands. I narrowed my eyes.
"No, tell me. I want to know. I love music. I have a friend that plays a bunch."
He looked up at me and stared into my eyes as if searching to see if I was lying. "Uh, I play the Cello, Recorder, Viola, Bass, Violin, Piano, Guitar. I play more I just can't.. uh.. remember.. right now." He smiles and I nod.
"C-can I have your number?" He asks me and then closes his eyes as if he was expecting me to say no.
The fact that I didn't even know his name seemed to slip my mind and wrote it down on a piece of paper and handed it to him.
As soon as he slipped it in his pocket, his friend from before came back and grabbed him by the arm, pulling him.
"Come on, we have to go!" He sighed and stood up and they both walked away.
"But- I didn't get your name- ugh!"
