Adrien's POV
"Why don't you ever invite people over, dude? Like, for a party or something?"
I glance at Nino. My best friend's mahogany eyes are pleading. All he ever wants to do is have a good time, and I'm grateful to him for wanting to share it with me, but...
"I'm sorry," I sigh. "My father would never allow that."
He groans and shakes his head. "Why doesn't he? The only party we've ever had at your house was the party when I was Bubbler, which kind of sucked..." His voice trails off, but he finds something else to say. "You know, you've been nothing but awesome this whole year. I think he owes you something for that. Something called a..."
"Party," I complete, feeling somewhat like a deflated balloon. Yeah, that's a weird example, but that's all I can think of. Balloons. Streamers. Music. And then my father showing up and ruining it all.
I don't know why he has to be like this. Doesn't he want me to have friends like a normal teenage boy?
"But you're not normal!" he would bark. "You're my son! An Agreste! Now go back to your room and practice piano!"
Sometimes I hate the piano.
"Adrikins!" a voice rings out.
And now I'd much rather be thinking of my father again.
Chloe wraps her arms around me and squeezes. She's like a boa constrictor, my goodness! I try to pry her off me, but she's stronger than me. Strange, considering the fact that I'm a superhero.
"What's this about a party?" she asks, batting her eyelashes.
I have no idea what to say. "Uh..."
Her face gets closer to mine. As if it wasn't uncomfortable enough.
"Am I invited?" she chirps, though her mean girl attitude is starting to show through. "I better be invited!"
"Actually, Chloe, there's no party. His daddio's too strict. Now get off him, please."
Nino, I love you. You're the best friend a guy can have. I mean it!
"Fine then!" Chloe snaps, letting go of me. "Later, Adrikins!" She gives me an unnecessary kiss on the cheek, which I wipe off as soon as she's gone.
Alya walks up to us, Marinette following her. "Will that girl ever leave you alone?"
"I hope so," I reply.
She, Nino, and I laugh. Marinette chuckles a bit.
"We were just discussing having a party," Nino says.
"A-a party?" Marinette stutters softly. She glances at me.
"I wish," I tell them. "Father's just... you know."
"Well, it never asks to hurt," Marinette suggests. Realizing the error, her face turns crimson. "I mean, it never hurts to ask!"
She always has this sort of thing around me. It's kind of adorable! I chuckle. "Good idea, Marinette." My shoulders droop as I think. "But he never let me before. Why would it work out now?"
She bites her lip.
"Still," Alya says confidently, "we're going to try."
Our whole group brightens a bit.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go to that giant mansion of yours and ask!" Nino says.
We all nod and start walking.
This is either going to be a disaster or the best moment of my life.
Hi. I'm sorry it's boring so far, but it'll get better in the later chapters... I think. Idk. I'm barely decent at writing fanfiction.
Have a nice day!
