Kaitlyn's POV

Once we got back to the mansion nothing really went back to normal sure everyone was safe and in one piece, but there was an odd silence that hung in the air and no one seemed to be able to look at any one else.

The same kinda of went for me, but instead I tightly held Maddie to my chest silent tears constantly streaming down my face. Peter was leaning onto my side running his hands through my hair while Erik sat on the floor laying back on Peter. Who knows how long we stayed like that, and words were only exchanged when we wanted to switch who was holding Maddie.

We all felt tired, drained, lost, and still in pain. I know I can speak for everyone just by the way they sulk through the mansion or lounge on the other furniture.

"I need to go to the bathroom" I finally mumble finding the strength to give Maddie to Erik and gently shove Peter. Then finding my strength all over again to walk the excessively long distance to the bathroom. Honestly I don't think I even have to go I just wanted an excuse to walk around like everyone else, so that's what I did I shuffled through the halls not once running into another soul.

Well that was until I reached the dead end of my fourth hall and found Kurt crouched in the corner hands running through his hair. Not that the scene was any different from the others, but something about sweet innocent Kurt going through this alone pulled at my heart strings.

"Do you mind if I join you?" I asked just loud enough for him to hear me while still to not to break the silent mood. He looks up a small smile encouraging me, but it doesn't reach his eyes like it normally does.

"I need to get something off my chest" I confess just after a few seconds of silence deciding that telling him my secret would be better than pressing for answers on his experience. He looks up blue eyes urging me on reassuringly while his face is still sunken in.

"The doctors there were very interested in genetics I learned a lot of stuff that will probably affect me some day..." I pause taking a moment to take in how he inhales sharply at my statement, but he pushes me to continue despite the evident fear. "They kept going on about how second and third generation mutants are stronger than they're parents, and how powerful Maddie will be considering her family tree."

"Donthey think that she will have Erik and Peter's powers?" He asks now intrigued by our conversation despite the terror that lurks behind his eyes. Now its my turn to inhale sharply since I've only told Peter, and that was when I was still loopy now I'm starting to get my mind back.

"Possibly, but her other Grandpa has one of strongest minds in the world let perfect control over his powers I think they were more intrigued with that." We lock eyes and I'm hoping he'll catch on to what I'm saying since I think I'll busy into tears if I say it aloud right now.

"What do you mean... Oh god do you mean... Charles is your dad?" He whispers the last part looking around for any eavesdropping students, and I can't help but smile at the innocent action. "Yep Charles... Is my real dad" I gulp an odd feeling boiling in my stomach with my words.

"And you had no idea?"

"Of course not honestly if I would've found out at a different time I would've be all over the idea, but now something's holding me back" I trail off flipping my wrist over to see those good awful numbers. Kurt see them to and sympathy instantly cascade's across his face, and I feel terrible for that.

"Don't give me that look you guys had it much worse" I try my best to sound sincere, but it comes out slightly bitter. However his love look never falters to one of hurt or annoyance instead he keeps up the happy demeanor. "I don't think any of us had it the best since all of us were going through different situations you can't compare, but they were all awful and left us with scars."
