Jared x Defendant!Reader

(Warning: a bit slow and boring, I didn't really have inspiration for it..)

For the longest time, you have been best friends with none other than the insanely cool Jared Kleinnman.

This man has been one of your friends since kindergarten, and you know that you've always had a tad of a bit crush on him. But hell, like that's gonna happen, he never shows any interest in you, is what you think, so you keep it on the down low.

As another day of school started, you walk up to Jared who recently started to talk to his friend he had a while ago. Some kid with a broken arm and blue collar T-shirt.

They seemed to be talking about their summer as you just listened in on them.

This boy must have some anxiety issues or something, he definitely talks like it.

"Wait.. D-d-do you want to sign my cast..?"

"Why are you asking me?" Jared replied.

That was a bit rude Jared...

"W-well it's just.. I thought, c-cause we're friends-"

"We're family friends! That's like, a whole different thing and you know it."

As he spoke those words you noticed that boy to be turned down and upset as Jared simply seemed to walk off.

"Um.. hey, I'd sign your cast if you want me to! I mean, I don't know you, but I know Jared, and you seem pretty chill!"

"O-o-oh... um, yea.. s-sure.."

And with that, you gave his cast your signature a bit small near the edge. Before he go the chance to react to this, you ran off to get back to Jared.

"Hey! Don't you think that came off a bit rude to that kid back there?"

"Oh, Evan? Oh pleeeaasse, that acorn is fine."

You didn't agree with him one bit, but you stayed quiet, not wanting to not please your crush.

The next day of school you went back to go and find your nerdy jerk friend. This time, he was with Evan again and seemed to be picking on some tall, emo guy, as you walked into the middle of their conversation.

The boy seemed to be pissed off at Jared or something by a comment he must've said until Jared spoke,

"I was just.. kidding. It was a joke..?"

"Yea I know, it was funny I'm laughing, can't you tell?" He replied with a sarcastic and annoyed tone until he semi-screamed, "Am I not laughing hard enough for you?!"

"... you're such a freak.." Jared said as he walked away.

You couldn't handle how rude Jared has been acting up all of a sudden, so you stormed away towards him, leaving the previous scene.

"Jared? Can you tell me what's going on with you?! You're acting like such a douche!"

"Listen (y/n), I'm speaking the truth, the truth shall set you free! I told Connor he was a freak, and that was the truth. Maybe that'll put him out of his misery."

You couldn't believe what you were hearing came from the man that you loved. You loved the humorous, somewhat sensitive Jared. Not this. You were so shocked at this statement of his that you grabbed his shoulder to discontinue his walking as you scolded,

"Jared Kliennman you have absolutely changed to the point as for me to consider you as a bastard! What the hell man?! You have no sympathy towards others and just choose to go as you can! What's going on? Connor and Evan might be going through some stuff and do you think your nasty comments are gonna help them out of it? Hell no!"

"Jesus (m/f)... Listen to yourself. Why are you defending them? It's like you're a freak too-"

Those were the only words you heard that made you snap. Your vision became a bit blurry and your ears entirely tuned out of Jared's voice. You were just so fed up with this, and on top of that, him calling you a freak? Wow.

You end up leaving him stranded in the hall still trying to explain, but you didn't want to hear any of it. You speed walked through the halls (No running in the halls.. 15 seconds detention for yo- I'm sorry 😂) to get to your class and away from him.

The day ended with you ignoring Jared the whole time. He made you feel so unwanted and uncared for... How could he say such a thing... I thought we were friends... actual friends...

"(Y/N)!!!" You hear from a slight distance. Jared then catches up to you, still panting from running to you.

"W-why have you been ignoring me all day?! What did I do? Liste-"

"NO YOU LISTEN TO ME..." and with a large inhale, you continued, "do you know what you're doing to me... you're crushing me within your grip. It's like I was never important to you and I was never truly your friend... do you know how heart breaking that is to me..? Jared...

I love you...

I've loved you for the longest time, and here you come in insulting and just being a huge jack ass to everyone... Why... Just why..?"

"(Y/n)..." he started. There was a moment of silence as your eyes began to tear up, afraid to be insulted as he rejected you, until he spoke again,

"I'm sorry..."

Great, of course... of course he doesn't-

"For acting like this... Truth be told, I was trying to be a jerk to get you to.. like me... I... I never knew that you had feelings for me... (y/n)... I love you too. For so long I have, I just never wanted to show it... I'm sorry..."

You two just continued to stand staring into each other's eyes in front of the school until one of the custodians yelled, "Get off the school zone, you're not supposed to be here anymore!"

The two of you chuckled a bit with a blush as he asked,

"Want me to walk you home?"

"Yea... I'd like that."

And with that, you knew that you would never cut him loose, cause he definitely has of use, for forever.

Listen, that was SUPER crappy guys. Sorry, I just don't think Jared really has much of a role, I dunno, except for bath bombs and his CRONCH. Anyways, 1094 words. It's a lot shorter than the others cause I didn't know what to do.
