Wyatt Cross woke up in the morning, all smling and everything. He was rather excited for a fresh, new start today, as he was going to be starting a new school. He jumped out of bed, and ran downstairs. He gave his dad a great big hug, and kissed his mother on the cheek. They both looked startled, and Wyatt couldn't blame them. After all, look at the last school he'd gone to.
At the last school, he'd been forced out of the closet of bisexuality, and everyone called him rude as fuck names afterwards. He'd gone through a brief period where he'd thought nothing of suicide and death, but then his grandma on his mom's side passed, leaving the house to her only daughter she could stand, and the family packed up and moved. Wyatt was hoping that this new school would be a fresh start for him, and this time, if he were to come out as bisexual, it would be on his own accord, and not through any one forcing him too, or doing it for him.
As Wyatt ate the waffles his mom had made, his dad said, "Remember, you have to take Missy and Fiona to school as well."
Missy and Fiona, Wyatt's little four and eight year old sisters. They were probably the most adorable things in the entire world, and they both had to be dropped off at the elementary school.
"I know," Wyatt said, smiling. He just couldn't help himself. Today had the prospect of being a brand new day, and god was he excited.
It was at that point that his two little sisters came tumbling from their shared bedroom, playing around with each other, and just being so adorable. When they saw Wyatt, they jumped over to him, Fiona, the younger one, telling Missy that she was going to beat her to Wyatt.
When Fiona tagged Wyatt, she said, "Told you I'm the fastest of us!" Her front top two teeth were missing, and she just looked genuinely happy. And Wyatt couldn't help but chuckling at them.
He grabbed his little sister, and held her in his arms for a bit. He peppered her whole body with kisses and whispered, "That's what you get for winning Fi-Fi." And Fiona giggled so much, and it was just so adorable.
Breakfast passed by quickly, and then Wyatt was in his car, with his sisters in the back seat, Missy in her car seat, and Fiona in her booster. Wyatt drove to the elementary school, and walked them inside, and showed them to their classrooms. He introduced himself to each of their teachers, and let them know that he would be bringing his sisters in each day and picking them up after school. He also warned them that he would not be getting out of high school until fifteen minutes after the elementary school was out.
Both teachers were really understanding of it, and he made a mental note for each one. Missy's four-year-old kindergarden teacher was Mr. Jonson, and he seemed a bit nutty to Wyatt. Fiona's third grade teacher was Ms. Friedel, who seemed as though she was going to be a good teacher for Fiona. Wyatt quietly approved of both his sisters' teachers.
Then, with ten minutes to spare, he arrived at the high school, and got to the office. He recieved his schedule, and walked around trying to find his locker. While he was walking around, he ran into someone.
"Sorry," he said quickly.
"It's okay," the girl replied. She quickly bent down to get all her books that had tumbled out of her hadn. "This happened daily last year. I'm used to it."
"Here, let me help," Wyatt said, reaching down next to her, helping her gather up all her books. "I'm new around here. My name is Wyatt Cross, who're you?"
"I'm Darla Young," she replied quietly. "I've been here forever."
"Well, you'll have no problem showing a new boy where to find his locker?" Wyatt cracked a smile at Darla, who smiled. She'd probably never had anyone smile at her before.
"You don't wanna hang with me," she murmured. "You seem like a cool guy, and everyone will hate you if you stay by my side. No one will like you, and you'll ruin any chance of being popular."
"Popularity is overrated," Wyatt replied, smirking. And it was the truth, he loathed popular people. Back at his old school, he literally had two friends, despite being on the football team, and they were brother and sister. And his cousins.
"You'd be the only pretty boy who thinks that," Darla replied.
"You think I'm pretty?" Wyatt asked, cocking his eyebrows.
"Oh no, not me. But every other girl in this school is going to be all over you. You have the pretty boy look. You'll be eaten alive by the teenage girl population."
"You talk as though you aren't one. A teenage girl, I mean."
"I'm more mature than the idiots in this school. And I'm here for school, not to get caught up in some frilly teenage girl's romance that can only end in crushing heartbreak when you are forced to move far away from each other and try a long-distant relationship, but it doesn't work and someone always ends up cheating on the other, and it just turns into a mess. No thank you." She pressed the rim of her glasses up against the bridge of her nose, and smiled at Wyatt.
And Wyatt decided he liked her.
