What Awaits

The future

"We are leaving earth in 10 minutes,"  each captain said in unison. There was no other option. Everything that we had was on board the shuttle. Each shuttle has five built in homes for five families. The Third World War was bad, so when it was over we all lived in partly broken down houses, and ate mostly canned goods. I wasn't alive though I'm only 14, so I'm basing this information off of what I was told. It is now the year 3019, so it wasn't that  long ago. But Now I was boarding the shuttle that would take us to space for a year. After that we come to earth and see what changed. I walked over the metal floor into the giant shuttle, and looked for room 3. My parents and sister were already there, and just finished unpacking while I just started. My sister walked out of the room to go greet our new neighbors, and mom and dad went to find jobs. They had all sorts of stuff here, like a restaurant, an inside gym, and a lot more! I was going to miss our little neighborhood, but I knew I'd be back. It was just a matter of time. I was just finishing putting the sheets when the floor underneath me started to shake, and the ground out the window faded. We were now taking off. The only thing I could see was another shuttle and clear blue sky. The floor stopped shaking, and I was done unpacking after about three minutes. I decided to find my sister, and see what she was up to. "Mel!" I yelled. Immediately I see her running past me, shoving me to the ground. "Hey!" I yelled looking at her as she ran away from my view. "Where did she go?" I heard some guy asking somebody. "I think she went down the hall right here," he other person said. "I got to hide," I thought running into a room that had a really live it skydiving. "That's so 2064," I thought. I heard foot steps racing down the hall I was in. The sound of metal faded as I walked out. I don't know what Mel did to deserve this, but I was bound to find out. Right after finding my parents.
