I pray my tears would fill the rivers
I wish your screams would wake the dead
I hope your bodies revive with lifeIt's like hearts have turned to stone
Why pit brother against brother?
Your kith and kinThis body aches so I ache
A pain skin-deep and sore
Rather flesh and boneSkin stretched against bones
Until it is no more
Innocents lostDon't you dare turn away
Their rasped voices are calling
But no aid for milesWho to rely on?
When their own brothers have failed them
Their mothers collecting dustOne plea emanates from me
The least you can do:
Pray for their salvation
