Steam rose from the carton and surrounded the hungry teen. She clapped her hands together in thanks for the food and started to dig in, only to be interrupted by the knocking of the front door.
Grumbling she threw down her chopsticks and grumpily went to open the door, revealing a concerned-looking Tamaki.
His amethyst eyes glistened and met hers.
"Tam-Tamaki, what are you doing here?" She stammered out.
"I came to see you, Aya," he replied. "Can I come in?"
"Sure..." She opened the door wider and allowed him inside.
Once they were seated at table, Aya asked, "how did you know I live here?"
"I have my ways," he answered slyly. He leaned forwards and clasped her hand, intertwining their fingers. "Aya, why didn't you tell me?"
"I-I just didn't want you to judge me. I'm so tired of people judging me based on my circumstances. Look at this place." She gestured about the room, showing off everything that was wrong with it. "I used to be rich and lived in a lavish mansion, now I live in this hovel. How could I tell you that? How?"
Tamaki scooted round the table and moved her so she could bury herself in his arms.
"Aya, you are my best friend why would I judge you? Where you live, or your circumstances, doesn't reflect on who you are as a person. Whether you're rich or poor, you're still the same sweet, beautiful girl who I fell in love with."
She abruptly sat up straight and looked at him. "You love me?"
"Oh, Oh!" Tamaki covered his blushing face. "I didn't mean to say that."
"You love me?" She repeated, trying to sort out her emotions that were being stirred by his words.
"Y-yes." He sighed. Unable to take back what he said, he came to the conclusion that maybe now was the right time to tell her how he felt.
He had just barely lifted his head when he felt something crashing on his lips.
He was shocked for a moment and then his eyes fluttered closed, as he melted into the kiss.
After what seemed like hours, Aya rested her forehead on Tamaki's and breathed out...
"I love you too."
Maybe it didn't matter that she wasn't rich anymore and maybe she should be thankful that she lost everything, because it had given her the chance to be reunited with Tamaki.
She lost everything, but today she gained something even better; Tamaki's love.
