It was the last Hogsmeade weekend of the school year. Rather, the last Hogsmeade weekend ever for the eighth years. Harry, Draco, and Hermione decided to celebrate by spending a day together. By this point, almost the entire school knew about Harry and Draco and were surprisingly okay with it.
The new trio had just exited Hogwarts and were walking towards the small village when Draco realised something.
"Y'know, I don't think that my parents know about us, Harry."
"Oh, er, did you not tell them?" Harry asked, looking rather worried.
"No, I thought that I'd wait until we were open, and then I guess it just slipped my mind." Draco shrugged.
"W-Will they be okay with it?" Harry asked anxiously.
"Oh, of course, I came out to my parents years ago and they were just fine with it."
"But what about the fact that it's, y'know, me?"
"If you're referring to the fact that you destroyed Voldemort, the man who terrorised our lives for years, they won't mind that at all. In fact, they were quite happy when he was killed because my father was actually pressured into joining by my grandfather, Abraxas Malfoy. My father didn't want to become a Death Eater, and then my mother was roped in when she married him. I'm sure that if you met my parents when they weren't pretending to hate you, you'd get along famously." Draco explained.
"Er, alright then," Harry said simply.
"Now, Three Broomsticks?" Draco asked.
"Sure, my treat!" Hermione jumped in.
"Hermione-" Harry started.
"Nope, shush. We are going to get drinks and I am going to buy them."
Draco laughed, and Harry smiled. If Draco was happy, then so was he. The Slytherin and the Gryffindor just fit well together, like the perfect pieces in a two-piece puzzle.
"Hey, I'll meet you two there, okay? I gotta go get something." Draco said hurriedly, then rushed off before the other two could reply.
*Harry POV*
I wondered where Draco ran off to as Hermione and I walked to the village pub and cafe. We snagged a table towards the back of the crowded building. Hermione ordered three chilled butterbeers, one for each of us.
I saw Draco burst through the door and scan the room for us. I waved my hand to get his attention. He smiled and made his way to Hermione and me.
"What'd you get?" I asked.
"Hm?" Draco snapped his head towards me. He was really fidgeting, unusual for him. "Oh, nothing important. Thanks for ordering for me."
Hermione looked at Draco knowingly. Draco's eyes widened, and I just sat there, confused. I glanced between them, trying to figure out what their silent conversation was about.
"Er, care to include me?" I said.
Draco nodded slightly at Hermione before turning to me, placing his hand over mine across the table. "It really is nothing, love. Don't fret about it."
"Hm. Okay." I said skeptically.
He smiled gently at me. "Want to go to our alcove later?"
I sighed, knowing that I'd never be able to get this information out of him.
"Sure, Draco," I answered, leaning across the table to give him a quick peck.
After we finished our butterbeers, we paid and then left to wander the village some more.
* * * * * * *
Draco softly pushed the small of my back, leading me. I was blindfolded.
"Draco, I know where the alcove is. Why exactly am I blindfolded?" I said sarcastically.
"Hush," Draco replied.
*Draco POV*
I glanced behind me to make sure that Hermione was following silently. She held up my phone and gave me a small nod, which I returned. I took a deep breath and stopped Harry by gently grabbing his sides.
I pulled off the blindfold, and Harry breathed, "Wow..."
Rainbows of wildflowers bloomed around the alcove. A picnic basket rested on a red and white checked blanket in the middle of the small clearing. Multicoloured birds fluttered throughout the trees; sparrows, blue jays, finches, etc.
I laced my fingers through Harry's, leading him to the blanket. As we walked through the grass, fireflies flew up and lit up the space with help from floating fairy lights.
We sat down, marvelling at the natural beauty. I pulled out some sandwiches and a treacle tart for dessert.
Harry smiled at me. " You really are the best boyfriend. I love you."
I smiled back and said, "I'm sorry, Harry, But I can't be your boyfriend anymore."
His smile faltered slightly. "Wh-What?"
I took his hand and stood us both up. "I mean, we can't go on like this, being boyfriends."
Tears were welling up in his eyes. It broke my heart to hear him say, "I don't understand."
I got on one knee and pulled a small box from my pocket. "What I'm saying is, I don't want to be just your boyfriend anymore. Will you become my husband and marry me?"
Harry's tears were falling now, but he had the biggest grin on his face. "I'd love to, Draco."
I stood up and slipped the ring on his finger. The band looked like a snake, wrapping twice around his finger without ever touching itself. The snake's eyes were made of a small garnet and a peridot.
"It's gorgeous." He whispered.
"Just like you," I replied, moving to kiss him.
When we broke apart, he shoved my shoulder and said loudly, "Don't ever do that again, you twat! I thought you were breaking up with me!"
We heard laughing behind us and turned to see Hermione cracking up.
"Bloody hell, Harry! Do you really think that Draco'd do that? Are you so thick that you can't see how much he loves you?"
"I, er, um..." Harry said, blushing.
I kissed Harry's temple. "I would never do that to you, love."
He wrapped his arms around me, burying his blushing face in my shoulder.
I chuckled and rubbed his back, gently telling him, "It's all going to be okay, Harry."
