"I wasn't prepared for you."

MYSTIC GRILL

Jenna approached Alaric at his table. He gave her his best welcoming face. Though he had just met her, thanks to the Gilbert boy, he was already drawn towards this blond beauty. 

"Jeremy totally ditched me. ", She exclaimed. Even she didn't wanna leave any chance to keep Logan 'Scum' Fell clear from her mind and what's better than a hot history teacher in town ?

"Where's he go? ", He asked her though he was again thankful to the Gilbert. 

"Home. It's not far. He can walk it. ", She told him and he nodded.

"So, are you from here? Are you a townie? ", Ric started the conversation.

"I'm a returnee. Left town for a while, now I'm back. ", Jenna informed him.

"Why'd you leave? " 

"School. And then there's the real reason. I was wronged... a guy named Logan. ", He liked how frank she was. She was comfortable around him and he was glad about it. Though he had come here in this town with some other intention he can't help but give his attention to this quirky lady in front of him.

"What'd he do? ", He asked interestedly. Maybe, he will get to know the Don'ts while dating Jenna Sommers. Was he seriously thinking of dating her already ?, he was rolling eyes at his own thought.

"Basics... lied, cheated, lured me back in, left me again. Your turn. Any sad relationship stories? ", She asked with a chuckle at the end. The history junkie was amused how they already were talking about their past relationships. He would anyway top the chart of people having sad relationship stories.

"The basics... fell in love, married young, had a kid, then my wife died. ", He tried to make it sound funny but it obviously wasn't.

Jenna went a little awkward, "Oh. Wow. "

"Yeah, that's always a good conversation stopper. ", He commented.

"What happened? ", She asked carefully.

"Well, you, me, Nora and the North Carolina police department are all wondering the same thing. It's what's known as a cold case. ", He told her the half truth. The other half is something that has been bugging him since forever.

"Nora ?", She immediately asked.

"My daughter. ", He told her with a small smile. That reminded him, Nora still hasn't returned any of his voice messages. Either she's planning to kill me or is ignoring me so I worry myself to death. Either way, I am dead. , He thought and chuckled.

He made a mental note to call at her school when he gets home. He didn't want to worry Crys more. She was already doing a lot for them. He knew Nora was mad at him and he had to make sure his daughter doesn't end up doing something reckless. Though he had a feeling she was already up to something.

"Oh. So, why'd you moved here? ", She asked next.

"A change of pace, new scenery. I like it here. It's got a rich history. ", Ric told her with a shrug.

As a certain brunette passed the 'Welcome to Mystic Falls' signboard, a mischievous smile started playing on her lips. Nora knew she was getting Crys into trouble and that her Dad will be beyond upset but he has given her many reasons to get upset lately so she can pay back a little. Her Dad had been keeping secrets from her. No one like to be kept in the dark and Nora was no different. 

She and her Dad hardly keep secrets from each other, especially after Isobel left them/died. Hell, he didn't even hide all the supernatural stuff from her teen daughter considering knowing species like vampire exists, it will be safer for her. In fact, he has been training her since Isobel disappeared. Alaric himself never believed in his wife's research until that was her only thing left for him. 

He now believes in Supernatural and knows that it is connected to his wife's disappearance though he hasn't told this part to Nora. 

So, oblivious to her father's intentions and what all was waiting for her in this god forsaken's town, she was already here to find answers. She was not going to live away from her only family left. 

Now that she thinks of it, her Dad has always been her only family and if there's another person she treats and gets treated in return like a family, it's Crys. From the days she used to babysit her and till today when they are more like friends, their relationship has only deepened. Crys as in Crystal was best friends with her mother, Isobel and was from quite a well-off family so Nora knew the reason she used to babysit her wasn't that of money but pity since Isobel never had time for her own daughter. Hell, she doesn't even remember the last time they shared a mother-daughter moment. Her whole childhood just passed away longing for her mother's love only to end up realizing it's just always gonna be her Dad and no one else.

She put breaks to the car as she realized something was wrong. She hopped out of the car only to realize it had a flat tire.

"No way!", She exclaimed as the last thing she wanted at this hour of the night to have a flat tire. What would she do now ? She doesn't have an extra tire and even if she had, she didn't know how to fix it. So there was only one option- she had to call her Dad but he still didn't know she was in Mystic Falls and would probably think she's playing some prank to disturb his sleep. 

She looked around and there was no sign of life, just a lonely road and never-ending woods on each side. That was the problem with small towns. It's either the whole town is on the roads or no one at all. She sighed and kicked the flat tire in frustration. She was even scared a little not that she would admit it. Lonely road, starry night and dark woods and a town having a lot of animal attacks lately and what if the vampire thing is true ? She knows about her mother's research but still is not able to trust it completely. She had to see a supernatural element herself to believe in it, not before that.

"If you are done practicing your football skills on this tire, may I ask who the hell are you ?", She heard a husky voice dripping with interrogation. She looked up towards the woods and realized it came from a gorgeous raven-haired man who was standing in all his glory in the middle of nowhere looking at her with little disbelief.
