One Wish

Prologue

Sage POV

Waking up, I go downstairs to see my mom making breakfast while my dad's drinking his coffee. Slowly, Amythest comes down with Nathan close behind her. We all get our breakfast and sit down to eat.

Suddenly there's a knock on the door. Getting up, my mum opens it. Suddenly, a gunshot rings out. Standing up in fright, my older sister grabs me and Nathan, taking us to the closet in the kitchen. Looking through the crack between the door and the doorframe, I see a man dressed in black holding a gun to my father's head.

'I already killed one bitch, why not kill her kids too? Come out, come out wherever you are!" Frozen, my dad shakes his head slowly as a way of telling us no. Nathan tries to go to him but Amythest holds him back with a hand to muffle his shouts.

Laughing, the man in black slowly squeezes the trigger and suddenly my dad falls to the ground with tears slowly falling down his cheeks. Sighing, the man leaves the house with the door shutting behind him.

Waking up, I start shaking with my head in my lap. That was the one thing I never wanted to relive. Two days ago my parents were murdered in my home and I could do nothing but watch.

Getting up, I looked at the small room the orphanage had given me and decided to have a shower. Grabbing a pair of clothes, I slowly trudged my way down stairs. Checking the clock on the wall by the bathroom door, I saw that it was almost midnight.
Sighing, I got in the shower to try and wash the memory away. Once I was done, I got out, put a clean pair of pajamas on and went to the roof.

Sitting down on the ledge of the building I debated jumping; just ending it now. Then I remembered Amythest, Nathan and my friends; Jean, Allison and Brittney. Taking a deep breath I looked up at the sky, only to see a shooting star. My mom used to always say if you wished on a shooting star your wish would come true.

Not thinking, I closed my eyes and made a wish. "I wish to be able to disappear, into a world where no one knows my name. Where I can be with my family and friends forever."

Opening my eyes, I watched  as the star come towards me. I was frozen in a mix of fear and confusion. As the shooting star came towards me, I realized it wasn't a star at all. In front of me flew a fairy; small and beautiful.

"I have heard your wish dear child, and have come to set you free, to grant your wish."

Slowly, I opened my mouth to speak. "Are you real or is my grief turning me insane?"

With a sad smile, the fairy landed on the roof, only to grow to a taller version of herself. "I am as real as you are."

Confused, I asked her if she was really going to take me, my family and friends away from this frightening place known as reality. Slowly, she nodded and asked me for names. "Allison Lare, Brittney Falith, Jean Matthews, Nathan Smith and Amythest Smith." Nodding her head, she wished me good luck and waved her wand.

Next thing I knew, I was waking up again. I looked around, noticing how everything looked so animated. Rubbing my eyes, I saw my hands were also animated. Suddenly jolting up, I looked around for any source of water, seeing a pond. Since it wasnt too far from me, I ran full speed towards it.

Arriving at the pond, I dropped to my knees to look at my reflection. Staring at my reflection, I noticed I still had my platinum blonde hair but my face was more defined and my eyes were lighter than normal.

Standing up, still looking at my reflection, I noticed I was wearing a black frilled skirt, a pinkish purple top with a black bow near the collar, and knee high dark brown boots with black frills near the top.

Looking closer I realized I was slim, with my long hair in a ponytail held up by another black bow. Looking around I seen a girl with long blonde hair and fairy wings. Blinking, I rembered how I got here and how this girl sent me here.

Walking over to her slowly I started speaking. "Where are the others?"

Smiling, she put her arm out towards the other side of the small clearing I woke up in. Running over, the first person I found was who I imagined was Allison. Slowly shaking her awake, she blinked and then jumped."Hey, hey, Al it's just me, it's just Sage calm down."

Taking a deep breath she slapped me upside the head asking me not to startle her next time. Laughing, I smiled and told her what happened. Confused, Al looked at me and then slowly blinked now realzing that I was no longer 'human'.

Opening her mouth to speak, nothing came out. Slowly, I helped her stand up and took her to the pond. Looking down at her reflection, she put her hands on her face to make sure it was her.

Spinning around, she looked around the clearing for more than likely Brittney. Taking a deep breath, she walked over and tried to wake her up. Remembering how deep of a sleeper Brit was, I grabbed a handful of the pond water and poured it on her face.

Jumping up, she started yelling at us. Brit, suddenly realizing we weren't home, slowly turned around only to open her mouth and then close it again. Seeing the pond, she walked slowly towards it and looked at her reflection. After staring at he reflection for a little, she turned around with a face that just screamed explain. Deciding to wake the others before I explained a second time we started waking everyone up. Slowly they all woke up and slowly headed towards the pond. Looking over themselves they turned to me.

Sighing, I took a deep breath and explained everything from the moment I woke up that day to now. Suddenly, I felt a small flick to my forehead. Looking to who the hand belonged to, I seen Brit twitching her eyebrow. Sheepishly, I rubbed my neck and apologized. Quickly they had all forgiven me and we turned towards the fairy only for there to be two small cats in her place.

Walking over to them, I realized they looked like siblings. Shaking their heads, they introduced themselves as Rikki and Nikki. Laughing, I introduced everyone and suddenly Nikki hugged me, hearing my entire explanation of what happened. Smiling down at the small feline, I patted her head and soon she told us to follow her and Rikki. So that's what we did.
