Tonks' POV
"Remus, don't you walk away." I said to his back. "I need to talk to you."
He sighed and turned around. "What more is there to talk about?"
I glared at him gently and his expression didn't change. "I want you to think. About something."
"Will you stop trying? You know I don't want to hurt you." He asked.
"Will you stop saying that?!" I snapped. "I don't think you understand that when you say you can't be with me because you don't want to hurt me, you've already hurt me in ways you can't imagine. Every day it hurts just to see you here. To look at your face, and your beautiful eyes, and to hear your laugh. I've fallen hard for you, Remus, and that's how you've already hurt me."
His expression was blank as he listened and I started to cry. The tears filled my eyes and I let them spill out, not caring what he saw.
He walked up to me and put his arms around me. "Shh," he whispered.
He leaned into my ear and said, "I'm sorry, Tonks, for all the ways I've hurt you. I now understand that being apart would be more painful than being together. I love you, and I want to be with you, and I can't stand the distance between us anymore. I love you, Nymphadora Tonks. I can't deny it any longer."
My tears stopped and I turned around, pushing my lips into his. He lifted me up off the ground and spun me around, his face an expression of pure joy.
When he set me down again I whispered something in his ear.
