I was on my way back to my room ,when I found Jake.
"Hey",he waved his hand in greetings.
I parted my lips and smiled.
He came forward to meet me."I was searching for you everywhere".
"I was with Asmi''.
"Oh!!So, how was it..?''
"..what??"
"Her story"
I got confused."How do you know.....''
"Silly thing, she tells that to everyone"
I nodded. I always liked the way he took things. It is always a never-mind thing for him. And not only that, I liked almost everything he did...about how he cared me..
" I' ve got some memory tests for you'',he giggled.
"Memory tests??"
"Yeah, some newspaper reports.Let's see how your brain responds."
"Um,okay'',I said a little hesitantly.
He guided me to his room.I've never seen where it is. We climbed the stairs.
The Dawn had no rooms of intimidating grandeur. But instead it had unexpected spaces and corridors, disclosing new corners. It also possessed places where one could feel refreshed. Just like Asmi said, each loop and corner here wants us to be happy.
I was curious to see Jake's room. Throughout the way he kept me engaged , blabbering. I enjoyed it.
And there it was !! He opened the door for me,
" welcome", he said stretching his hands.
I stepped in. The walls were all white shaded. The sunlight hit it and struck my eyes. I stood there a second , blinded by the whiteness.
The bed was neatly spread...not a speck of dust in the floor....two chairs and a stupendous table.....a heart shaped bookshelf embedded to the wall.....a canvas stand..!my eyeballs stooped at it .what!!
I turned to him."Jake...you..you can paint??"
"Everybody can paint .", he said freely.
I ignored him and went near it. The painting was incomplete. It seemed to me like he was trying to figure a person .
"Who is this ,Jake?? " , I asked curiously.
"That's my own business",he replied with a mischievous smile.
I frowned at him childishly.
I went near his table. There was a small pile of newspapers . Jake seemed to notice what I saw.
" I collected those for you. ", he said.
"Stop kidding ,Jake!", I spread the papers on the table."you do this because you want me to go back ??''
"No. I just hoped if your memories could come back...''
"..so that I will this place ,right??''
I clearly knew he had no in tensions to sent me back."The Dawn never shuts its door before anyone ", he said in a calm ,though particularly low voice ." Even if you get your nears and dears , we will never compel you to go. "
His words made me silent for a few clock-ticks. I turned my head from his face and searched places in the floor to stick my vision, so that I could speak more firmly.
"A new phase of my life broke here. And now you all are my world. No matter whatever happens , I wish to belong here always....."
I wished so because of two reasons- Jake and Mareena ,the two sacred souls who saved me. Oblivious about my past , I strongly wished my future to be here.
I continued, "Mareena and you saved my life. I will always be grateful for what you did. Beyond that , I starkly have no other dears and nears except you both. "
Tears began to roll down my cheeks. Words failed me.
"Its okay", Jake came forward and stood face to face. " We never want you to go back"
I understood that my tears were disturbing him. I wiped it and changed my posture.
"I am sorry , Jake"
Silence was his reply. Suddenly , my eyes caught a little girl's photograph on his table. I took it. She had a heart melting cuteness on her face.
'' Who is this Jake?".
He hesitated," That..that is ...my sister''"Oh my god! Your sister.. She's so cute..!"
I said so quickly because in was surprised to hear that. This was the first thing he disclosed about his life ."Jake tell me.... What is her name??", my voice turned stubborn.
"Her name is Sarah'', he said in a resistant tone.
" My name!!Ha ,that's nice. Why haven't you told me..? Bring her here someday. I can meet her ,right??"
A couple of seconds passed and no answer came back.
"Jake??" I went near him.
I saw him seated in his bed. His face fell . I haven't seen him so badly ,expressionless. He looked at me slowly.
"She got killed in an accident "
