Christa

Although these past eleven months have been some of the most exciting and happiest of my life, they have also been the most stressful, hectic, and annoying. It's just been full of phone calls to catering companies, wedding planners, and everything else that could possibly be needed. But today was finally the big day. There's only minutes before I walk down the aisle and I am the happiest woman alive right now. Patrick had been gone for the majority of the time of planning so I had to do everything, but at least we got a couple months to start the planning together; he and I both chose the venue, decorations, and the guest list together, but I had to do everything else since he left to do Fall Out Boy shows. Everyday I had to balance out my time between talking to him, planning the wedding, and tending to poor Penny who got left out most of the time.

Jamie, my best friend since junior high and now my maid of honor, came into the little dressing room I had been stuck in for the past four hours trying to get ready and wore the largest smile on her face as I sat there fixing my bouquet. She gasped as she looked at me and I looked up at her.

“You look so beautiful Christa!” She was starting to tear up and she pulled me into a tight hug.

“I'm not that pretty Jamie.” She looked at me with frustration in her eyes as she pulled away and looked at me with her jaw set. She grabbed my shoulder and led me to the other side of the room and positioned me in front of a corner of mirrors. She turned me I stared directly in the front facing mirror. To be honest, this is the first time I've seen myself today and I felt my jaw almost fall open at the sight of the person in the mirror.

A gorgeous woman stood in front of me; her long brown hair was pulled up into a braided bun and her bangs curled on either side of her face, her face clear of any imperfections, and her body looking even in skin tone and adorned with beautiful jewels. Her long white wedding gown had a mermaid fit at the top and the bodice was covered in lace and crystals that caught the light no matter which was she turned. Below the fitted top was the a crystal attachment that created a starter for the many layers of fabrics that created the skirt and train. This woman was absolutely stunning, almost like a model for the dress she was wearing.

        This woman is me.

“Oh thank you Jamie...” She was putting in my hair piece that held my veil and when she finished I turned and gave her a quick hug, keeping back the tears of joy that threatened to make an early appearance.

“Well, it's only the truth. Here.” She handed me my bouquet; it was made up of twelve rainbow roses with crystals hidden all around them. It was the one thing that I chose out myself without any consent from Patrick because I wanted it to be a surprise.

“Hey Jamie?” I made my way over to the couch and pulled out a shoe box. “Can I get some help?” I laughed a bit as she nodded in understanding and quickly ran over to open the box. She looked a little confused as she grabbed the shoe out of the box. “I told Patrick that I wanted to be me at the wedding, and I don't wear heels... so I asked him if he'd be alright with me wearing my boots and he said yes.” She smiled at the thought and 'aw'ed” a bit as she started lifting up my skirt to find my foot. No surprise here, but it took her just about ten minutes to get the boots on. I lifted my leg so I could see them.

The white matches my dress and the black matches his tuxedo.

Jamie started pulled something out of her bag when she noticed the time. “Shit! I'm supposed to be out so I can walk down the aisle! Five minutes left Christa!” She squealed with excitement and dropped a tiny white box into my lap before running off. I took the box in my hands and read the little note card that she's attached to it.

        “Something blue~”

I opened it to reveal a bracelet with hearts made from diamonds and a baby blue topaz running along the whole chain. I quickly got it on my wrist and admired it. Hope she knows I love it. I got up, grabbed my roses, and made my way out to where I was supposed to wait for my cue to walk down the aisle. I saw everyone lined up in the hall. The six bridesmaids all wore the same dress, but in the colors of the rainbow. To Patrick's knowledge, this was the only rainbow other than the lights in the main party area. I hope he likes the rainbow roses...

I felt someone rest their hand on my arm and I lifted my gaze from the roses to the person; it was Patrick's dad. I frowned slightly, remembering that my parents called saying they wouldn't be able to make it just a few days ago, and that caused him to frown back.

        “Well, sorry to disappoint you.”

“Oh no! No, it's not you I'm thinking about, sorry... I was just remembering my parents won't be out there.” I offered him a saddened, yet happy, smile and he lightened up from the realization that it wasn't disappointment on my face from seeing him.

“Well, they're missing out on seeing their beautiful daughter on one of the biggest days of her life. Thank you for being the woman to marry my son.” I felt myself blush at his compliments and wrapped my arms around him quickly.

“Thank you...” I pulled away and one of the coordinators signaled to us that it was almost time to walk down. He offered me his arm and I linked our elbows together. We both perked up when we heard the music start up and we both took a deep breath before we simultaneously took a step forward. Then more and more steps took us to the doorway opening up the gorgeous venue Patrick found. I studied it quickly as we took our first few steps down the aisle.

The walk way was covered with a white fabric that had been sprinkled with white rose petals. I noticed everyone staring at me and a tear escaped my eyes. I glanced at the bridesmaids, their dresses making them each unique yet making them the same but the white rose bouquet binding them all together even more, and then over to the groomsmen who each adorned bow ties that match the ladies opposite them. They all looked amazing, and they all flashed their big smiles my way as I inched closer and closer.

Finally my eyes wandered to Patrick standing in the middle of them all. He was stunning. He was in a sleek black tuxedo with a black bow tie tied up around his neck. I honestly almost fell from my knees buckling slightly at the sight of him, but I was lucky to have Mr. Stump there to hold me up. I admired his stunning figure against the pink-ish orange sky behind him and noticed that he had switched out his fancy shoes for a new pair of black combat boots. His faced beamed, showing everyone his amazing smile as he stared at me, and I could see a tear roll down his cheek as I walked up. His father released my arm and pulled me in for a hug before going to take his seat. I turned to face him and stared into his bottomless green eyes that could make anyone get lost for days in them and felt the tears stream down my cheeks.

“Here,” Jamie nudged my arm and held out two tissues for me and Patrick, which I gladly took. I wiped my cheeks with the cloth and saw Patrick do the same. Finally the courtier told everyone to sit and Patrick grabbed my hands away from my face. He held them low in between us as we just stared into each others eyes until it was time to say vows.
