The next day Severus sat on the grassy surface by the playground. He examined how one side of a piece of grass was rough and the other silky. He ran his thumb over the rough side, boredly.
"We're going back Lily." Tuney demanded when she saw Severus sitting in the grass.
"But I want to go on the playground, Petunia!" Lily whined. She wiggled out of Petunia's grasp and made her way to the swing set, ignoring Severus. Petunia stomped over to Lily and glared at Severus.
"I know who you are. Your that Snape boy," Petunia retorted coldly. Severus clenched his fist, and turned towards Lily.
"Your a witch. Not the kind in muggle fairytales, you have magic. I'm a wizard. Your just like me," Severus informed her.
"Rubbish." Petunia muttered under her breath.
"Muggle?" Lily looked at him questionably.
"Oh, er non-magic people. Like her." Severus pointed at Petunia. Tuney made a face at him.
"But magic isn't real." Lily said.
"Of course it is," Severus said with such certanty it was irrelevant to argue with him.
"Go on Lily. We're going before he corrupts you with any more nonsense," Petunia glared at Severus. Lily had gone quiet, and stood awkwardly staring down at the tan bark. "Lily" Petunia raised her voice.
Severus smirked when Lily didn't move.
"I want to hear more about magic, Tuney," Lily whispered. It was obvious Lily usually followed Petunia's instruction. Petunia scowled and vanished from sight. "I'm Lily Evans." Lily greeted Severus.
"Severus, Severus Snape."
"Tell me more about magic, Severus." Lily said dreamily, staring up at the light clear sky dotted with white clouds. The two children spent the rest of the day talking about everything the magic world has to offer. "Sev, tell me about the moving paintings again."
"What about them?"
"Do they really talk?"
"Ya," Severus responded.
"Wow." Lily grinned, "It's getting late." The sky had transformed from a blue sky to a splash of pinks, oranges, purples, and yellows.
"It is," Severus nodded in agreement.
"I should go. Be here tomorrow?"
"Always."
