The cage

There was a cage
And you held the key
I was in the cage
My feelings made up the bars
My nerves made up the lock
My confidence made up the gate
And yet only you could set me free

Today I voiced who I really am
I let you know who was locked in that cage
And you immediately released me
Not on purpose
Not knowingly
But I was freed.
I'm not grateful, because I had to do it myself
I'm not scared, because I had nothing to lose
I'm satisfied, because I now know my capabilities.
The cage doesn't exist anymore
And with it went the key
Now I'm sending my feelings for you
And I'm making sure that I'm truly free
