The Juno's speed picked up, but it wasn't our doing. The altitude dropped rapidly much to our dismay. Jupiter's magnetic field grabbed hold and was reeling us in.
"Server One, this is Juno, we have lost control. I repeat. We have lost control." The crew and I listened for a response, but nothing came back. Jupiter's magnetic field just about rendered our systems useless. One glance around the ship, at the crew was all it took. We all knew the fate that lay before us. This was the end, no doubt. We all wished we could hug our loved ones, tell them how much we missed them. But, we were reduced to a small space cabin that would soon crash and burn on the surface of Jupiter. Any chance of survival was mitigated by Jupiter's gases. I doubt we'd even land, if there was anything to land on before we crashed into some type of solid formation in that giant ball of gas.
In those waning moments of my life, I thought about my daughter, Elsa Jean. What an angel, she is. I thought about the short six years of life she's had. But even more so, I thought about how she would spend the rest of her life without daddy. Her real daddy, anyway. I'm sure Jenny will move on in due time, as she should. I'll never forget you both. I pulled a picture of my family out of my pocket and held it close to my heart.
The Juno inched closer to Jupiter's perimeter. As we did so, the front pane of it was now white as a ghost. Just a minute before, we had been staring at billions of beautiful stars in their black background, but now just white. We had entered Jupiter. Call us pioneers, as we are the first ones. We'll be dead pioneers, but trendsetters, indeed.
The white light got even brighter. We were surrounded by it. But, even further in the distance, way down far along in that whiteness, a black circle. A dot, if you will. Slowly but surely, over the course of the next minute that circle dot got bigger, and then bigger.
Juno was now only 300 miles or so away from the meteor. Our crew of four stood up and embraced each other. We stood proudly side by side around in a circle. Our heads ducked into the middle, together as one unit.
"I love you Jeanine," Captain spoke.
"My dog, Sadie. Bubba misses you." Jordan Bubbers spoke aloud to the crew.
"No regrets. God will have us all." Laurel Tanner, native New York City resident, and second in command replied.
"To my Jenny, and Elsa Jean. Daddy's coming home."
Moments later, I woke startled. Where was I? I thought to myself. The ship I saw before me was massive. I looked around and saw her, Elsa Jean. What was she doing on this ship?
"Hiya, Daddy! Welcome home!" She had a rainbow swirly lollipop in her mouth.
