Mia's POV (Summer 2018)
*BANG BANG*
I turn to my side and pick up my phone to see what the time is, it's 6 o'clock in the morning.
What the actual fuck?
The banging goes on for a few more minutes before I angrily throw my covers back. I walk over to my mother's bedroom and look out the window to see the annoying fucker. She is the last person or should I say the last bitch I wanted to lay my innocent eyes on.
I look over to see if my mum has also woken up by this childish tantrum, her dear old baby sister has performed. Oh, look at that. She woke her up too.
I walk over to my mother and sit down in front of her. I roll my eyes after giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Uh huh, it's grande bocca." I say before my mum even asks me. She gets up, leaving me on the bed to go see for herself.
The moment her eyes look out the window, she lets out a exasperated sigh and throws her head back in frustration before she starts glaring at the window, obviously glaring at "mia zia" (my aunt).
Not really giving a fuck, I decide to go to the bathroom. But before I walk over to the bathroom, I see my gripping the door handle as she stares out the window. She turns back to me as if asking whether she should open it and talk to her or just ignore her.
I gesture with my hands for her not to open it and I open my mouth to say the same but I'm interrupted with her sister's yelling and pathetic imitation of a human crying. I roll my eyes at how soft my mum is when it comes to them.
Sometimes I feel like people wear glasses that prevents them from seeing the truth. It's like they're blinded by love. And in order to see the truth, they need to take them off. I feel like my mother is wearing those glasses.
She eventually opens the window, immediately filling my ears with her sister's irritating voice. I just continue to enter the bathroom. I grab my toothbrush and immediately put it under the faucet wetting it before spreading toothpaste on and brushing my teeth.
As I am brushing my teeth, I walk back and forth from the bathroom to my mother's room listening to their conversation. "I need you to call the HMRC revenue because they are saying Francesco owes them money, Maria." Sofia yells, fake sniffles follow.
"They have already sent me a letter about this and I have already talked to them. He no longer works for me." My mother retorts.
Sofia stays quiet for a bit before answering. "I need you to give him a p45 and then I'll leave you alone!" She yells for everyone in Japan to hear, her voice piercing through the early morning frosty atmosphere.
"I'm not dealing with you. Go away. You insult my daughter and me and then come here as if nothing had happened." My mother replies calmly, in a scary calm voice.
Cue the violins...
" I did not insult her! I did not insult you or your daughter! But if that's what you think, then I apologize regardless!" Sofia cries, lying through her teeth, her voice containing a hint of panic.
I walk back over to the window, slightly behind my mum's back out of Sofia's sight."All you do is fucking lie! If you're not going to admit what you said, then go away now!" My mother was unable to hide the scorn in her voice.
"You insulted my daughter! You're the one who insulted my child. I didn't insult your child! Stop lying! God is watching you, Maria!" Zia Sofia yells, I scoff at how ridiculous she is.
