Mia's POV (2019)

*Knock*

My mother walks over to her window. Her fingers freeze at the handle, completely floored with the stranger below. After being able to breath again, she clicks the button before pushing the window open.

Immediately the stranger voices his reason. I freeze, caught off guard and unprepared for his visit.

"My mother wants to see her mother, Zia Maria." He states coldly, his voice monotone.

I feel my chest tightening as the voice that haunts my mind and soul, my nightmares, floats through the window into the room.

My mother holds onto the window seal, anger radiating off her. She doesn't respond, still in disbelief that he's here right now.

Not bothering to answer him, my mother runs down the stairs before thrusting the front door open. I follow behind, confused on her intentions.

"No. You're not letting him in." I whisper, unsure if she even heard me.

"I'm not going to, my love. I just want to talk to him. I'll go outside, okay?" My mother whispers back with a reassuring smile on her face, calming my thoughts.

I reluctantly nod my head at her before closing the door behind her, blocking his view. I slowly walk back up the stairs before re-entering my mother's bedroom, making my way over to the open window, listening to their conversation.

"Do you know that Mia is mad at you?" My mother questions, observing his reaction. Feeling uncomfortable, he looks both sides before looking at my mother again.

"My mother is suffering. She wants to see her mother." He replies, disregarding his past actions.

"How do you think I feel? I'm the one suffering. Not her. And I'm the one who got her heart broken." My mother hisses.

"She wants to see her and she's suffering." Luca says again, his coy façade shielding his evil soul.

"You and I both know what you did. Your mother insulted my daughter for something you did, Luca. You molested my child." My mother sneers, her anger inking her words.

He constantly looks around, ignoring her words and waiting for his to be heard. His demeanour causes all my pent up anger to resurface, tired of everyone overlooking his manipulative evil persona.

"She just wants to see her mother." Luca repeats like a broken record. I clench my teeth as I watch him look up at me with a conniving smile on his face, breaking his façade for a spit second before looking back at my mother with a blank expression on his face.

Realising my mother is not going to change her mind, he starts to walk away. But then after a couple steps, he stops in his tracks and turns around before walking back to her.

"Can I ask you one question?" Luca asks my mother, hesitating for a second.

"Yes?" My mother says, confused on what he wants now.

"When can she see her mother?" Luca asks her, pushing his limits.

"We'll never get along so how would she see her mother?" My mother answers his question with her own, venom lacing her voice.

In response, he turns to walk away, not before looking up at me as a huge grin spreads across his face with wave goodbye, taunting me yet again. I glare at his retreating figure. The audacity of this fucker!

The next day

"Do you need anything from upstairs, Ma?" I ask my mother from my bedroom window as I quickly slip on my short gym leggings under my oversized top. My mother shakes her head before going back to work.
