Time hated him, Magnus decided. He was currently running down the street of his dance studio where he should have just started his dance class, which he had not. The sun shone brightly and Brooklyn's streets were already stuffed of retro cars and kids on skateboards.

He couldn't really blame himself for being late though, Ragnar had invited him for a party at a fancy restaurant. And he could not have called himself Magnus Bane if he had decides to decline. But the hangover this morning had almost made him regret last night, ‭almost.

He almost broke the glass door pushing through it, but slowed to give Izzy a high five at the counter. The room was full of fairy lights and soft couches, the sight of the waiting room made Magnus smile slightly. Izzy bent over the desk to give Magnus his schedule. She was wearing a black skirt and an open blouse, very professional, but still a sprinkle of Izzy.

- Studio 6! Izzy yelled after him when he ran past, laughing.

Magnus would have been mad at her on any other occasion, but right now he was too stressed out. He ran past the smaller studios and stood suddenly before the " Studio 6 " door. Magnus took a deep breath and opened the door.

He was immediately hit by a wave of loud music playing on the large stereos in the corners of the studio. The music was aggressive and the beat quick and stressful, he could also her the familiar sound of squeaky rubber shoes against the floor. All the windows were open and Magnus could feel that the room had been burning hot just moments before. He scanned the room and was surprised to only find one student, in the middle of the room. He was dancing a very difficult choreography, giving his all and staring at himself in the large mirror, as if judging himself.

The man was tall but only slightly taller than Magnus. His skin was light but decorated with freckles. Clothing wise he wasn't very extraordinary, black sweatpants and a tank top in the same colour. The materials were sticking to his back and thighs with sweat, but he didn't seem to mind. Muscles flexed along his arms and Magnus drooled mentally. His sweaty, dark hair flew around his head and he didn't bother to push it back.

The music started to slow down and after making some movements with his torso and arms he ended the choreography with a nod.

A smile spread over the mans face, pleased with himself and started walking towards his phone to pause the next song. But on his way he noticed Magnus and stopped.

- Uh, hi?
Magnus was shocked at how quickly the man changed mood, he blushed and started bouncing on his feet.

He realised he was staring, so Magnus cleared his throat and smiled kindly. The man seemed to relax and smiled shyly back.

- Hi, I'm Magnus. I don't think we've meet before?

The man shook is head and took out his hand.
- Alec.

Who even shakes hands at our age? Magnus thought, but only chuckled and shook Alec's hand. Alec's grip was firm but he wouldn't meet Magnus's eyes.

- Not to be rude, but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to have a class here?

Alec finally met his gaze and nodded, having problems deciding where he should put his hands. His eyes were dark and soft.
- Yes, I'm pretty sure I paid for a private class once a week.

Magnus clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he remembered.

- Rightttt, Lightwood? As in Izzy's brother?

Alec simply nodded.
He wasn't very talkative, but Magnus decided he didn't mind as Alec definitely was a good dancer. Magnus smiled brightly and Alec blushed.

While walking to the stereo Magnus whispered  " how cute " under his breath.

The class went by fairly easy. While Magnus couldn't say he was used to private classes, he preferred students not only learning from him but also each other, he enjoyed dancing with Alec. He was quick, experienced and open-minded.

They worked on some steps as the hours went on, but Magnus had to constantly give them a more advanced twist so that Alec wouldn't get bored. He sometimes found himself hypnotised by himself and Alec moving like they were programmed the same way.

Sweaty wasn't close to how the men looked after dancing for two straight hours. Alec constantly wiped off his forehead with his hand.

- Sweating is totally normal, you know? It's the body's way of cooling down, otherwise we would always be hot. Not that you aren't...
Magnus blinked playfully, but really understood Alec's insecurity. He had been there once as well.

He knew better than anyone that dancing was as much a physical as a mental workout. Feeling comfortable with your body and finding out how you can move and use it is a journey. Alec wasn't at the end, but at the back of Magnus's head he promised himself that he would give Alec a head start.

Alec blushed and turned away pretending to practice a step. But he stopped wiping his forehead.

Magnus bent back from his unplugged phone and came to stand behind Alec in the mirror. He was trying to do a kick-ball-change ( a really easy step aight ) with an arm and hand movement, but he couldn't quiet match them together to one step. He gently grabbed Alec's arms, swirling them and ending with them on his hips.

Let's get one thing clear, Magnus would never  " touch, TOUCH " a student. Never. No. N. O.
But when he's doing something so normal and usual for him on Alec he suddenly reacts a way he never has before. He lets go of Alec's hand and grabs his hips.

- Try moving your hips in eights, he muttered, not really paying attention to the words coming out of his mouths. Alec's body moved like one of those eye tricks, quickly but flowing. Suddenly Magnus felt eyes on him, he glanced up in the mirror and noticed Alec studying his hips and Magnus's hands.

Magnus knew the situation was strange, so he slowly let go of Alec's hips pretending to study his movement. He just completely ignored how tense his shoulders were and how tight his pants suddenly felt. If Alec noticed something about Magnus's behaviour, he didn't show it. He just looked at himself with eyebrows pressed together in the mirror, moving slowly.

Magnus cleared his throat and looked at, what he realised is a bare arm, trying to tell the time. He quickly pulled out his phone and checked, 14:04.

- Time just fly by when you're having fun! I'm sorry, but I have a class in a few minutes.

Alec chuckled and Magnus blushed slightly in embarrassment. Strange, I never blush Magnus thinks.

- Of course, sorry for wasting your free time. Same time next week? Magnus nodded and Alec took out his hand once again. They shook hands and Alec collected his things and made his was towards the door. He stood in the doorway for a few seconds, but left.

The second Alec was out of sight Magnus sunk down on the sofa in the back of the studio. He was happy that he ended up with such a hardworking and kind student, but something was bothering him. He tried to shake of the feeling and was surprised to see the door slam open, imagining it was Alec coming back. He smiled and stood up, but instead it was a group of loud nine year olds in tutus that greeted him.

Time hated him, Magnus decided.
