"you heard me"
"I know, and I'm asking you to repeat it for me because I'm pretty sure you didn't just ask me to get you a spot at my job."
Jungkook's teeth gritted together as his previously warm body made it's way through the cold city night. Sunmi trailed along behind him, stopping every few minutes to admire something the venders were selling.
"You heard right the first time, why can't you believe me? Take me seriously, Jeon!" Sunmi pouted as she sped up her pace to catch up to him.
"Sunmi, don't get me wrong, I'm a struggling University student who's barely passing to pay his rent, but even I wouldn't sign up for this job. As much as I like it, it's not worth it. I'm only doing it since it allows me to do what I like, cutting hair, but the other half is just...not the greatest alright?" Jungkook sighed, staring ahead instead of at the girl who was now wrapping herself around his arm.
"But, Jeon~" she whined, her voice ranging in tone as her lips wobbled dramatically. "It seems fun, and we'd get to work together!"
"And that's supposed to make the situation better?" Jungkook scoffed jokingly, earning a punch to the gut from the girl.
"Why won't you even consider it? I mean-this is your chance to see a sexy girl- me, in nothing but fishnets and my undergarments. Doesn't that sound a little tempting?"
Jungkook's mind went blank for a moment, his mouth becoming dry at the thought. Unconsciously, his lips pressed together and he nodded, imagining the girl before him in a similar attire he wore to work-
No, snap out of it. She can't work there, Jungkook.
"No." Jungkook shook his head and continued walking down the busy street.
Sunmi groaned, kicking every pebble that came into her path."Is it because I'm not sexy enough? Is that it?" Sunmi blurted out, just as Jungkook thought the conversation had finally ended.
"I-I never said that!" Jungkook stuttered, face blushing dark.
"It is! Isn't it!?" Sunmi gasped as she hit his chest playfully. "Jungkook, how rude! You don't think I'm sexy-"
Jungkook clamped a hand over her mouth as they had begun to attract the attention of the people roaming around them. "Sunmi, I never said that! quit making assumptions"
"But it's true" Sunmi's voice muffled against his palm as they eventually escaped the busy streets and ended up in a much quieter place.
"You know what?" Jungkook spun her around by her shoulders, staring deeply into her dark brown eyes.
"W-What?" Sunmi stood stiff, blinking hastily at the male.
"I'll take you to work with me tomorrow night, my shift starts at 6 and you'll come and watch me until the end of it. Then- and only then - will I allow you to decide if you'd like to sign up or not"
"Hmm...deal!" Sunmi smiled, patting his arms softly as she held onto one, pressing her cheek against the fabric of his coat.
Jungkook couldn't help but roll his eyes at the girl's childlike personality. And yet, he still saw something interesting about her. Something that made him want to spend the rest of his days with that same girl.
"Jeon, you should get a girlfriend. You're really good boyfriend material. Like, your arm is so comfy to rest on, that's something all girls would love to have"
Sunmi rambled, giggling as she held onto him even tighter.Though, the boy could only answer with a curt nod. It was true, he did want one. But why did it feel wrong to be thinking of that in this moment?
"Jeon, will you take me home?"
"What?" He blinked, shocked at her words.
"Take me home. I'm tired and I think Jimin's going to be grumpy by the time I get there. It's just a few blocks from here anyway, and I know you have a bike.."
She grinned, tilting her chin up to face him which only made Jungkook even more flustered. The moonlight only outlined each ethereal detail that made up her face even more, the shadows deepening her giddy expression as her giggles filled his ears with pure joy- almost mimicking music to him.
"You know I have a bike?" He averted his gaze back to the path, changing the subject to avoid her request.
"Uh duh? I met you outside of the restaurant we were just at and you had told me you parked your bike over here."
Sunmi explained before yawning."Right." Jungkook managed to slip his arm out of her grip so that he could fish the key out of his pocket.
"I'll drop you off outside of your house but that's as far as I'm going"
"I mean, I didn't expect anything else.. did you?" Her lips curved up into a half smirk as she watched him lead the way to his parked bike.
"I-" Jungkook was flustered yet again, this time his words getting caught in the back of his throat from the overwhelming thought of,
Did he expect something more?
"no." He ended as his hand motioned for her to move toward his bike. He couldn't hold back the smile that had a strained urge to creep onto his face. His eyes were trained on the girl as she inspected each feature of it, fingertips caressing over the handles and the leather seat.
"I never would've thought a motorcycle could be so sexy. Wow." Sunmi allowed a airy laugh to slip out as she gestured for him to get on.
As he did so, the girl only grew even more excited once he began to rev up the bike, placing his only helmet on her head before tapping the seat for her to get on behind him. Sunmi's arms instantly wrapped around the male's middle, taking a secret whiff of his pine-like aroma as he made sure they were secure before driving off.
"So how come you don't wear a leather jacket like the typical biker dudes?" Sunmi pressed. Jungkook simply shrugging while focusing on the road.
"They're over-rated," Jungkook spoke after a while of silence. "They're not my style either"
"Its a safety thing isn't it? At least- I thought it was" Sunmi frowned as she thought It over.
"I guess it could be, I just don't like wearing one. I'm a safe driver anyway" Jungkook smirked.
"Why, do you not feel safe enough?""No-"
Sunmi was secretly thankful for the fact that they were sat the way they were, because in this case, Jungkook couldn't see the way the girl's smile grew so brightly.
Tightening her grip ever-so-slightly around the younger's waist, Sunmi leaned her forehead against his shoulder blades.
As a sponge would do- she soaked this all up. Sunmi allowed herself to take in the astonishing night scenario as she admired the way the male felt so warm. Despite the boy's worries, Sunmi could only feel the complete opposite to what he believed:She felt safe.
"- I'm safe."
