Ash pov
Rhy and I both shifted, him going into the trees first to strip and shift and me just shifting on the spot since my clothes don't get harmed. I went and stood in the centre of the ring waiting for him in lion form. He emerged as his brown wolf, the fishy sign above his eyes shining in the sun as if it were a third eye. I blinked and focused on watching his body for a sign of attack as we started to circle in the ring. He twitched and I tensed, jumping out of the way of his charge just in time before turning back and repeating the motion. This happened a few times until I sprinted around the edge of the circle and leaped onto his back. He quickly rolled and his weight caused me to let go before he flipped over so he was holding me down, accidentally pressing on my throat. I could tell it was accidentally because he couldn't see me behind his fuzzy fur and large paw. I tried to push him off but he's too strong to budge. If I didn't move him soon I'd run out of air. My feet kicked at his stomach but couldn't reach far enough to make much of an impact. I decided to shrink and shifted into a lynx. His paws hit the ground and I took the opportunity to dart out and pounce on him as a tiger. He buckled in surprise and I managed to hold his neck in a loose death grip before he submitted. I won! Releasing him I jumped up and shifted before doing a victory dance.
"Yey! I won!" He rolled his eyes and went back to the trees to shift again, emerging in just jeans.
We walked over to join the others gathered by where Izzy was sitting on a rope swing.
"Who's next?" I asked. Josh looked at Izzy.
"We could fight as humans, no shifting allowed?" He suggested questioningly. She shook her head.
"I wish I could shift." She sighed, swinging gently. I smiled softly in sympathy. The oak tree's leaves swayed and a small branch cracked making us jump aware. When I breathed in I faintly smelt a rabbit.
"Relax guys." I soothed the jumpy wolves. Ben suddenly perked up.
"You might be able to." We looked at him strangely.
"Be able to...?" Izzy prompted.
"Shift. Once your fully mated." He finished.
"What?" She squeaked.
"Yeah! If you have shifter blood in you then once we are fully mated you might be able to shift. Nearly 85% of wolves'a human mates have shifter blood so you have a good chance!" Josh said excitedly. Izzy jumped up from the swing cheering and chanting 'I might be able to shift! I might be able to shift!' and doing a victory dance. A sudden quieting of the birds caught my attention. I glanced into the trees just in time to see a huge wolf jump out and pounce on Izzy, holding her to the ground with its jaws around her neck. I yelled and Rhy shoved me backwards towards the building as Josh ripped out of his clothes and landed on the dusty floor as a dark brown - nearly black - wolf. He growled and snapped at the pure black wolf holding Izzy to the ground but that resulted in the wolf tightening it's jaws and as Izzy instinctively went into a submissive position I saw Rhy, Ben and Abi shift. I could feel an itching to join them but Rhy kicked the door shut and it stayed. I looked around for a way out but the windows were locked and I had no key. Then I saw it. A window in the roof.
"Maybe..." I went to the, thankfully unlocked, cleaning stuff cupboard and found a ladder, dragging it out and balancing it against the wall closest to the roof-window. It didn't quite reach so I climbed to the top and balanced to open the window before hauling myself up. I looked over the edge of the roof to see the black wolf immediately below and the others back to back, surrounded by enemy wolves. Josh was snarling and snapping at the one holding Izzy but unable to do more under the threat of her getting hurt. I stepped back and got ready to shift. I had to choose one form just in case any live and they don't already know about me. I went with the tiger and took a running leap. A wave of deja vu washed over me as I fell on top of my target but this time I bit straight through his neck with my powerful jaws before anybody had time to react. My group came to their senses first and jumped outwards, attacking the dozen wolves surrounding them. It was four to one. And not in our favour. I saw Josh's eyes flash and grabbed Izzy's leg gently with my jaws and half dragged her inside. She pushed me off her leg and glanced about. I shifted back and pointed at the ladder before we started to climb - her in front of me. We reached the roof and she hauled herself up before backing away so I could follow. I quickly tugged the ladder up onto the roof and joined her at the edge.
