Jace and Clary's Wedding - The Mortal Instruments Fanfiction

Chapter 2

Before Clary could react, Jace had a seraph blade in his hand. Clary looked at Jocelyn. She handed her daughter her stele and a seraph blade.

Under her wedding dress she was suited up with gear. Clary had put her foot down on the matter. "You never know what could happen," she'd said. And now it was paying off. Demons swarmed the place. Clary leaped out of the dress and stabbed the nearest demon. Its blood burned her skin. Clary realized it was a Ravener. She was puzzled but the demons retreated. Strange. Demons wouldn't usually do that, Clary thought.

"Alicante," Jace said. Clary nodded.

Magnus opened a Portal and they arrived in Idris. Luke had sent a message ahead telling the Clave that they were coming, so everything was set up. Jia Penhallow was there, along with other members of the Clave. All were cheering them on as they exited the Portal. A woman grabbed Clary's arm and dragged her to a fitting room, where Clary got another beautiful golden gown. As they were dressing her up, Clary couldn't stop thinking about the strange demon attack.

"Come on, dear. May Raziel bless you," the dresser said. She ushers Clary out, and Jace is waiting. Clary thinks about the Shdowhunter rhyme:

Black for hunting through the night.

For death and mourning the color's white.

Gold for a bride in her wedding gown.

And red to call enchantment down.

White silk when our bodies burn,

Blue banners for when the lost return.

Flame for the birth of a Nephilim,

And to wash away our sins.

Gray for knowledge best untold,

Bone for those who don't grow old.

Saffron lights the victory march,

Green will mend our broken hearts.

Silver for demon towers,

And bronze to summon wicked powers.

How beautiful it is... They flew through the ceremony. Jace turned to Clary. He leaned forward and kissed her. It was sweet. The best kiss they'd ever had. They both smiled. Clary sighed.

"Jace," she whispered, her hand on her chest, "I love you. You know that." Jace smiled and nodded his head. They walked away and Clary was smiling the whole time.
