"So, what will it be Mrs. Collins? You buying the house?" I real estate agent asks. My mom looks at me and I nod in excitement of getting a new house. "Yes, I will. What do I sign?" "These." The real estate agent hands her two papers stapled together. He hands her a pen to sign the papers and waits. She reads through them and signs, then hands the papers back. "Excellent. It's all yours."

We walk in the house and stare. "This is a big house." I say in awe. "Come on, lets go pick out a room for you and your sister." She says. "Which one is the biggest room?" I ask as we walk up stairs. "The big room is for your dad and I." She says chucking. "Do you want to share a room with Samantha?" Sally is my sister. She's 13. "Will Samantha protect me?" "Yes. Samantha will protect you from all the bad things, because she loves you." "Then yes. I wanna share a room with her. When is she going to see the house?" "Samantha is at school. She'll see the house today." She says opening a door. "Why did Samantha have to go to school?" I didn't have to go to school today. "Samantha had a really important test to take today. If she didn't take it, then she will get an F." "Can we paint this room green?" "That's up to you and Samantha ." I sigh not wanting to wait to paint it. "When is dad going to see it?" "Uh, well your dad isn't going to be able to see it for a while. He's doing his job." She reminds me, not making eye contact. "Oh yeah. He's helping the world." "Not the world, just the country." She says laughing a bit. "He'll be back in...26 more days." She adds.

We start unpacking boxes and settling in. "Come on Sam. We have to pick up Samantha now." We go to Samantha's school and pick her up. I try not to tell her too much about the house, but I told that we were sharing a room. She wasn't upset. We drive back to the house. 7:43pm. We take our baths and lie down. A couple of minutes pass and I start to close my eyes and fall asleep. I wake up to the sound of coughing. I look at my sister and she's still asleep. I look at the clock. 1:48am. I walk in my mom's room and wait to see if she was coughing. I get tired and head back to bed. I fall asleep again, and wake up to the sound of coughing. This time I wake up Samantha and ask if she was coughing. She says no. I do the same to my mom, she says no as well. "Maybe I'm hearing things" I think to myself. I once again go back to sleep. When I wake up, it's not from coughing, but from my sister waking me up. "Sam! It's time to get dressed for school." We get up, change, brush our teeth, and wait for the bus.
