Aaliyah Johnson.
I was named after my grandmother who was a persevering, hard-working woman. I had heard all her stories passed from one generation to the next. I knew the stories from when she was little to around the time of her death. She was an extraordinary woman. She was growing up in the period of segregation, she was at the churches seeing what the black community would do next about striking back. She was all for it. She made posters, she made plans, she helped spread the word, she was the organizer for the marches. I looked up to her in so many ways. That's why I'm so honored to have such a name. I felt like the name gave me my confidence, so I was gonna use it.
I go to Rosevelt High School, but everyone just calls it RHS for short. The school was over south so everyone knew this place was fucking jumpin'. The school wasn't necessarily bad but it's the not the best either.
I was in 4th period ready to get the hell out of history because Ms.Claren was boring the shit out of me. Literally. She wasn't ever a good teacher, never could explain a topic in a way everyone would understand and enjoy. That's what I hate about this school, most teacher were like that. They seemed as if they only were here for the money not to change the life of someone or give education to these poor children.
Anyway I heard in the hallway a new kid was here.
Why in the hell would you ever put your child in this school? And I heard he was white? OOF. This school was mainly built of minorities; we had the Hispanics who all hanged out together or with the blacks, then we had the Asians only about 37 in the whole school though, then we had the main people of the school. The blacks. We were like 75% of the school. Including the mixed kids and the darker skinned kids. About 2.5% of the kids were white, and the whites that went to RHS wanted to be black so much that they don't even seem white.
I wonder sometime why I even go here... but then I think of those fine ass niggas that go here and be like damnnnnnnnn. Yeah, I was a player. Hold up let me correct myself. I AM a player. No I didn't sleep with every guy I've ever talked to but I sure did play with they feelings like a mother-fucka. Like Tina Turner said " WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?"
