"Aren't you excited? There's a new kid coming today!" K.O. said excitedly to his brother. The previous Friday, Miss Quantum had told her whole class that they were getting a new student when they came back on Monday. Since K.O. and T.K.O. left home, K.O. had been talking about the new student.
"I know you're excited bro," T.K.O. started, "but chill out. You've been talking about this new kid nonstop since we left!"
"Sorry," K.O. apologized, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm just really excited."
"Tell me something I don't know," T.K.O. said lightheartedly.
"What do you think the new student's gonna be like?" K.O. asked, completely ignoring what T.K.O. said.
"I have no idea," Dendy put in from next to T.K.O. "I could hack the school files and tell you."
"You can do that?" T.K.O. asked. "You never cease to surprise me, Dendy."
"No, don't tell me," K.O. said. "I wanna be surprised."
"Well, I wouldn't mind if the new kid was cool," T.K.O. said.
"Cooler than you?" K.O. suggested.
"Is that even possible?" T.K.O. asked jokingly.
After he spoke, someone very unfamiliar walked into the room. It was a young girl with long blonde hair that was tied up in a high ponytail by a blue hair tie. She was wearing a blue jacket with a pink heart stitched onto a pocket by her chest over a white t-shirt. She had blue sweatpants that reached to her ankles, right above her red-and-white tennis shoes. The girl looked around the classroom, a shy smile on her face. When her eyes landed on K.O., T.K.O., and Dendy, they all waved at her—K.O. looked the most excited. She smiled confidently and waved back.
"Ah, it seems our new student has arrived," Miss Quantum said. "Everyone, this is your new classmate—Madeline Turner."
"You can just call me Maddie," Maddie put in.
"Very well, 'Maddie.' You can sit next to K.O.," Miss Quantum told her. K.O. quietly pumped his fist. T.K.O. snickered softly.
"Thanks," Maddie said, sitting down in front of T.K.O. She looked at K.O., who was looking at her with a huge smile on his face. She smiled back at him. Then she looked back at T.K.O. and Dendy, who both waved at her. She waved at them both, smiling.
After class, K.O., T.K.O., and Dendy walked up to Maddie while she was putting her books in her locker. K.O. walked up to Maddie and quickly said, "Hi! My name is K.O.! It's nice to meet you! This is my brother T.K.O. and my friend Dendy! Do you have superpowers?" The only problem was, he was speaking so fast no one could understand what he was saying.
T.K.O. covered K.O.'s mouth before he could say any more. "Sorry about K.O.," he apologized to Maddie. "He's...excited."
Maddie laughed. "It's fine. Just...one question at a time."
"Got it, K.O.?" T.K.O. asked jokingly. K.O. nodded and T.K.O. removed his hand from his brother's mouth.
"Hi! I'm K.O.! It's nice to meet you!" K.O. chirped, holding out his hand.
"I'm Maddie," Maddie responded, shaking his hand.
"This is my brother T.K.O. and my friend Dendy!" K.O. said.
"'Sup?" T.K.O. said, giving Maddie a slight wave.
"Hello," Dendy added in a monotone voice.
"Nice to meet you," Maddie said, shaking their hands.
"Do you have superpowers?" K.O. asked.
