❝WHEN YOU'RE WEAK, I'LL BE STRONG
WHEN YOU LET GO, I'LL HOLD ON.
WHEN YOU NEED TO CRY, I SWEAR THAT I'LL BE THERE TO DRY YOUR EYES.

EVELIEN WASN'T TRUELY HAPPY, she felt grief and pain many times and they were imprinted on her eyelids each time she lay to sleep. Thoughts would plague her when she wanted a nap or even to go to bed, that pain would always be waiting for her when she got home. Evelien was said to be perfect, the one who smiled everyday and didn't start a single argument. It was because whatever she faced while she was awake, wouldn't be as dreadful like when she dreams. Evelien avoided dreams whenever she could, like thinking far or close in the future just to have her own stupid pipe dream, she feared if she did, she'd feel a wave of memories crash over her and pull her under like every night.
Evelien had her reasons why she wanted to help Ned after hearing the news Peter died. Some sounded selfish, others sounded selfless, in a way most are both. She wanted to because she knew him, she knew Peter and could connect with him in a way no one could. Evelien had also brought herself up from the ashes when her grandmother died days after she left her; Because she knew that pain, Evelien saw what it could do to a person, and through her own grief, all Evelien wanted was someone there to pat her back and tell her everything was okay. But the most selfish reason, was all she wanted to do, is see his old brilliant smile back on face and have him be happy and move on from this.
If she couldn't help him all through it, all Evelien Monarch really wanted to do in the end was make him smile again. Even if that meant forgetting she has liked him since they were thirteen. The secret was already hard enough to keep since then, but Evelien kept that tucked in her heart, and was going to be ready to show it when the time was right.
