Poetry is like a Puzzle
Each piece has a partner, just waiting to be found
To be clicked together, fit together, situated and bound
Every line is carefully strung
Not a word out of place
Finished like a puzzle, to perfect to be erased
But Poetry is not a Puzzle
In fact, it's far from it
Not all lines have a neighbor
Or the perfect phrase to fit
The Pieces of a Puzzle always have a match
Their entire purpose is being knit together and attached
But the Pieces of Poem do not always link
It takes countless tries of second guessing
To think and rethink
Sometimes it takes days to find the right rhyme
And sometimes there's simply nothing to find
There's no guarantee of a well thought out end
That, like a puzzle, snaps together
In a satisfying blend
It's likely to be frustrating and cause less good than trouble
But if your lucky, the ending result might fit together
Just like a Puzzle
