The pain was unbearable. I was twisting, just so it would help numb some of the pain, but it just made the bones crack faster. Then my skin began to burn, meaning the fur were going to sprout soon.

I fell to the ground, making myself into a little ball, praying to the Moon Goddess this would be over soon.

Ava, I cried out to my wolf, make it stop, please! Tears were beginning to fall on the carpeted floor of the Alpha's office. I gasped, realizing the Alpha and Nathan were still in here, this is so embarrassing.

"We need to get her outside," I heard Alpha Martin say.

I heard the shuffling of two pairs of feet coming towards me. A ferocious growl come out of my mouth as my teeth begin to sharpen.

I can help numb the pain, but it will take a lot of energy, Mel. You maybe in a state where you can see and hear everything, but you won't be able to move until you finish shifting-then you are going to pass out.

I don't care, just make the pain go away, please! I was desperate, this hurts more than the beating I had before I ran away. In the midst of all this, I began to wonder how my injuries had suddenly vanished when I stepped into this territory. It was strange, I thought it could possibly mean that somehow Ava had healed me without me needing to shift yet.

Although I couldn't feel it, I was lifted off the ground and was being carried. I could tell because I was being cocooned  by the arms of Nathan, since my head was on his chest. He looked down at me, his eyebrows creased, a look of worry and wonder on his face. Wonder? "You'll be alright, Melinda, I promise."

I would have nodded if I could, but I can't feel anything or move anything.

My surrounding changed from the inside of the house to the outside. There were fellow werewolves outside, talking, amongst themselves.

"Gather the rest of the pack members," Alpha Martin shouted. "Everyone should be here for the shifting of our Protector."

Protector? I slowly raised my raised my eyes with as much strength as I can  to see some of the werewolves look at me with wide eyes, and slightly opened mouths. They also had the look of admiration on their faces -admiration?

.

I felt fur began to form on my hand.

Gently, Nathan placed me down on the nice green grass. Somehow, in the state that I am in, I didn't realize the change of scenery.

It was absolutely.. big. Surrounding us were hundreds of trees, going on for miles. From what it seems like, the whole pack was standing on the a gigantic patch of green grass, acres of it! They all formed a circle around me, staring at my curled figure on the grass.

"Dad, what's going on?" Someone stepped up from the crowd. He had golden brown hair and a light tan. He looked around the same age as Nathan and I. His brown eyes peered at me for a moment before he turned to the Alpha -his  dad. "Why is the pack here?"

Alpha Martin turned towards him with tears forming in his eyes and a big smile in his face. Whyishecrying ?  " Tate, our Protector is about to shift and we have the honor of seeing this happening! Is your mother here?"

Tate's eyes widen as he took a second glance at me, but he nodded anyways at his father's question. "She was speaking to one of the moms in the pack." He, himself, began to form tears in his eyes; as I look around me, so did everyone else.

My spine cracked and bent. I heard the sound of my shirt tearing in the back. My shoes also begin to wear away, as was my pants. I was in a haze, I couldn't feel the breeze on my back, bottom or feet. All I looked at was at the face of all the people that surrounded.
