Taylors POV
It hurt a lot when Carleigh left me in the woods. She said how we couldnt be like that, but why, I lo- really like her, I would never hurt her. She wasnt at breakfast today, and it was kind of quiet with out her. I wish I knew why she was mad at me, why she wouldnt let me around her.
I saw Sydney, talking to Nate as we walked out, jogging up behind her I joined her on the otherside, "Hey, wheres Carleigh?"
"She sick, up all night crying." I swallowed the lump that was growing in my throat.
"Did she tell you why?"
"No, she wouldn't talk to us, do you know why?" I'm surprised Carleigh didn't tell her, but that wasn't the point right now.
"Uh," if scratched the back of my neck, "no, no I don't."
She shrugged and walked off with Nate. I had to go help with baseball, but I couldn't stop thinking about Carleigh crying all night. I didn't want to cause that, and I'm not sure I did.
Walking up to the makeshift backstop, I started to set up the teams. I started up the game and stood behind the plate. Watching the pitches come in was boring, and I honestly wasn't paying attention.
Apparently I wasn't paying enough attention, because a ball came right up and hit me in the eye.
"Dammit!" I screamed, "Nate! Come over here, I have to go to the nurses cabin!"
Nate jogged over and toke my position. I walked off, and across the dirt road. There were scrap other kids there, most of them just had cuts. Looking around I sat down on the open seat.
"Taylor what did you do?" asked Carleighs voice from behind me. I smirked at her and turned my head.
Carleigh, to be blunt she looked awful. Red eyes, runny nose, and her hair was everywhere. "What happened to you is the better question."
"Shut up, I'm sick." she narrowed we eyes at me.
"Okay so where's the nurse?"
"I have no idea." She huffed, her nose was really stuffed up.
"Come on, I'll sneak us into the cafeteria and make you some tea." I offered her a hand, she stood up and shuffled with me.
When we walked out of the cabin, an to the cafeteria. Instead if going to the front entrance, we snuck around the back, and entered the fire exit. I led her into the kitchen, and opened the cabinets looking for the tea.
I put on a kettle of water, and waited for it to boil. She was standing opposite me, leaning against the counter. She still had a blanket rapped around her shoulders.
"Oh, god, your eye!" she said looking up at me. Rushing around the kitchen she grabbed a nice pack and rushed over to me. "Here put this on it."
She handed it to me and retreated to her side if the kitchen. I handed her the tea, and stood there awkwardly.
"Well, thanks for the tea, I'm going to head back to my cabin."
"I'll come with you." I opened the back door for her, and led the way.
"No Taylor it's fine, I can get to my own cabin." she sniffled.
"Come on, I want to." I put my arms around her shoulders, and led her to her cabin.
We entered and I placed her on my bed, she curled up under her blanket. I smiled and kissed her forehead. I went into the bathroom and examined my eye. It was bruising, but could be worse. Keeping the ice on it I went back into the room and sat down on the bed across from Carleighs. I started looking round the room. It was just like ours, three bunks, a carpet in the middle.
