Soon, after Luna performed a few healing spells on Neville and helped patch him up, Harry returned. Soon after, the all left you, Luna, and Neville alone.
"Luna, what do you think is going to happen once Voldemort is killed?"
"Well, Y/N, that's something none of us can answer. I'd like to think we'll be free from the burden he left, but the scars will remain. Neville?" She replied in her usual dreamy tone.
"Well I've not thought about it much. I'd say the same, but you never know anymore." He squeaked out weakly.
The three of you sat in the common room, on high alert for when Harry, Hermione, and Ron returned. It never came. You all ran out and all of the students were gathered in the courtyard, as it was those few weeks ago.
Harry stood bravely and eventually said, "Come on, Tom. Let's finish this the way we started it. Together."
A fast volt of green light came out of the Elder Wand, as Harry's wand was expelling red light. The power of the wands hitting each other on impact caused them to collide in a bright, flashing light.
You heard a faint slithering behind you. You took out your puch necklace and took both the hat and your wand out, as Nagini was closing in on you both. You began to shout a spell at the mighty snake as it posed itself to strike, but then the metal of a sword crossed through it's body.
With the power of a thousand lions, the roar of million, Neville sliced the head off the python. It's body disintegrated into black smoke. The smoke almost had tendrils, the screaming unbearable.
At that, the bright light stopped.
Tom Riddle dropped his wand. He began to disintegrate into gray ashes, the remains of the dark lord scattering across the sky.
You ran over to Neville and kissed him, the most meaningful kiss you've ever had. He wrapped his arms around you and lifted you up. Once you broke apart he looked into your eyes and had the biggest, most genuine smile you've ever seen.
You never thought that Neville Longbottom, the most clumsy, shy, and softest person you ever knew, could be capable of this.
He saved Harry.
Neville Longbottom saved Hogwarts.
You both stared up to the sky and began cheering along with the rest of the school, the Dark Lord's rein now over.
