The doorbell echoes throughout the house and a blonde woman answers the door. While age may have weathered some of her features, she still maintains a beautiful glow, with her big blue eyes and her high cheekbones.
"I am so happy you are here!" She screeches with delight and opens the door wider. "Come in, come in!"
We walk into the house and it has a wonderful, vanilla aroma. Around the house, there are some boxes are scattered , but a lot looks like it has been unpacked.
"Are these your kids?!" She exclaimed.
"No we're martians," Oliver muttered under his breath earning a jab to his side by our mother.
"Yes this is Oliver and June." My mother puts her arms around us, Oliver squirms away from her.
"Well, you can call me Rachel." She begins to look around, with a puzzled look on her face. "I don't know where everybody is right now, they're probably just unpacking their rooms and didn't hear the doorbell. Eric! Kids! Hunter!"
Immediately, the sound of footsteps scuttle down the hall and two blonde haired, energetic children appear. The little girl with long, cascading hair and bright blue eyes like her mother, clings to Rachel's leg once she sees us. Mirroring his sister's actions, the blonde boy does the same to her other leg.
"Well," she giggles petting her childrens' heads. "These are the twins. Ruth and Richie."
"Sorry, I couldn't get them from their room. They were too busy jumping on their beds," a middle-aged man, who no surprise was also blonde but had warm hazel eyes and a clean shaven face, came up and kissed Rachel's cheek. "Hi I'm Eric. Thank you for the pie, I am sure it was delicious, but I didn't get a chance to try it."
"Did they eat it all?" Rachel looks at the twins, Eric with a smile on his face simply nodded. "Goodness! I thought you did. Well, explains the jumping on the bed."
"They are just adorable." my mother lowers onto her knees to be eye level with the twins. "Hi, I'm Jane. These are my kids, June and Oliver."
"Hi," Ruth says and walks towards my mom. "The pie was yummy!"
Ruth then began speaking a whole monologue about her favorite desserts. Richie chimed in with his. Oliver rolling his eyes, walked into their living room and sat on the couch.
"Is he?" Rachel whispers to Eric which was almost drowned out by Ruth and Richie's excited yells.
"Not coming?" Eric finishes her question. "No."
"That is just ridiculous, he can't stay in his room forever!" Rachel whispers angrily. By now, my mother is starting to notice their distressed faces and the blonde couple senses this. "Okay, dinner is pretty much done. Make yourselves at home, I will be right back."
Rachel scurries down the hall and then out of sight.
