  I hope whoever is reading this enjoys my story. Leave a comment if you like. I'm open to ideas for more chapters.

Also, just in case you don't know, I'm going to shorten 'werewolf' to 'were' occasionally.

Just wanted you to be a-were of that. (Puns!)

Derek POV

         Sometimes I wonder how these things happen. At first, everyone is getting along great, then something comes and screws it all up. Hmmm, perhaps It would be better to start from the beginning.

     -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Sunlight filtered in through the light blue curtains of the rather small bedroom. The satiny, silver-threaded sheets practically gleamed as it was hit by the early morning sun. I yawned, and turned over onto my side. I nuzzled the shoulder of my girlfriend of several months. She wiggled a little, settling into my arms when I wrapped them around her.

        Sarah's light breathing was calming as we both lay on our bed for a while, the natural light in the room becoming brighter. The alarm clock sounded, and the two of us jolted up at the grating sound. I mashed the snooze button and then turned off the alarm. I ran one hand through my wheat-blond locks, the other rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Sarah grumbled and staggered off through the conjoining door to the bathroom. She never really was a morning person. I could hear Sarah brushing her teeth, going through her morning routine.

        I suddenly hear the slight squeak of a faucet, then the sound of water hitting skin. I smiled mischievously and tip-toed to the door, taking my clothes off on the way. As I joined her under the steady stream of water, I thought, "She's definitely going to be a morning person after this."

                                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Sarah was still blushing as she set the table for breakfast. I cooked up a few pancakes and some eggs and bacon. We sat there in mostly silence, the only sound being me scarfing down my breakfast. I shoved another pancake in my mouth and my cellphone went off. I checked the number.
        Cousin Danny? I accepted the call and got out a muffled 'hello' around the partially chewed pancake.
        "S'up, Derek!" Danny's cheerful and very loud voice bursted through the phone. I turned the speaker on and set it on the table.
        "Hey," I replied. "What's up? Did something happen?"
        "Yeah! I got a new car, so I figured I could drive up to Briggsdale and we could hang out, maybe party a little."
        Danny was several years older than me, yes, but he was pretty immature for a man who is nearly thirty and a werewolf hunter.
        "Can't," I said. "I got work to do. Maybe a little hunting." I broke a small piece of bacon and tossed it into my mouth. Sarah was quiet during this whole exchange, but started up when she heard me mention hunting.
        "You promised you wouldn't hunt for a while because of what happened just a few days ago!" She hissed at me. I rolled my eyes. I nearly lost a good chunk of my pectoral muscles when the werewolf I was hunting swiped at me. Luckily it was just a scratch, and you can't get infected by just a scratch.
