After that fateful night Charlotte and Dominique saw less and less of each other and their friendship became weak. Charlotte spent much of her time with her family and helping with the raising of her many siblings, while on the other hand Dominique who felt she needed to be "freed" from Charlotte's friendship found companionship among many of the eligible suitors around town. For a month before the sons were to arrive Charlotte began to have horrible dreams that made her unable to rest soundly. Each night she would wake up to the sound of the old man's voice saying, "you will suffer, you all will suffer."

Worried by the dreams she went to Dominique's family's manor to have a word with her about the dreams but she was not home. She was Greeted Estelle who told Charlotte that she too was having strange dreams and that Dominique would wake up in the middle of the night screaming. Though they were not friends as before, she still felt sorry for her.

And one night the dreams suddenly stopped just as they started, Charlotte knew it was time. It had been a year, Charlotte and Dominique were to be married.

The next morning she as greeted outside by Dominique's horse and carriage. She walked toward it worried for she had not seen Dominique in quite some time. When she entered she saw Estelle and she was confused as much as she was relieved.

"Where is Dominique?" Charlotte asked?

"Well ma'am, she does not want to marry the son of the which granter, for you see ma'am she is betrothed to someone else, she is pregnant, but don't be alarmed she has sent me to marry the son of the wish granter son so all is well"

Charlotte wanted to believe all was well but was worried her dreams were coming true, they all will suffer.
