The Curse

Charlotte was now married to Marcel Duvall and Estelle to his brother Andre. Both the couples were as in love and happy as could be and soon were pregnant. On the same stormy night in January 1859 Charlotte and Estelle had beautiful healthy baby girls, Elise and Evangeline. Charlotte knew staring at her sweet baby Elise that she was proof that no one was suffering and that all might actually be okay. But the happy moment soon ended as an unwelcome visitor entered the home of the Duvall brothers. It was Dominique.

"Where is the old man? I need him! This wretched baby is stealing my beauty! It is a monster!" Dominique screamed.

Andre and Marcel explained to her that he has been dead for a year now and that she is not welcomed in their home. She then stormed pass the men looking for Charlotte. When she found her she started up her yelling again.

"Charlotte remember how the old man said we would suffer? Well he is right! Let me look at your face! You must be hideous."

Dominique saw that Charlotte was not at all ugly but indeed more beautiful! She screamed and pushed the hood she had covering her face back revealing her now aged face, she looked as old as 80 and had three huge scars that traveled across her face. Charlotte tried to touch Dominique to comfort her but she recoiled and told Charlotte that this was all her fault and that they all must suffer too as the old man had said. Dominique put a basket on the edge of the bed and ran out of the room. Then Estelle let out a horrible scream that pierced the air. And at that moment Charlotte, Estelle and Dominique all fell still, no longer breathing. All suffering as the old man said. This wish they had made now became a curse.
