In a blustery night , a couple who longed for a baby gave birth to one who was very adorable. The couple had given birth to a baby girl and were very delighted but their happiness could not last long as the girl died shortly after her birth .They were devastated by the fact that their child had died .
The next night, they went to bury her in the graveyard . After they had buried the dead infant , they were returning to their home with gloomy faces when they discovered something at the front of their house . There was a basket in which they discovered an adorable baby boy sleeping in peacefully . Further, there they discovered a ring, a letter and a strange berry in the basket . They were astonished and pleased ,their gloomy face turned into an excited and a happy one . After that they went inside their house carrying the basket .They placed the boy in the bed which they had made for their child. Then the couple read the letter in which the following things were written:
Dear sir/madam,
Due to unfavorable circumstances, we are leaving this boy to you .Please take care of this child as your own.Shower him all the blessings which he could not receive from us and make him eat the berry when he turns five. Also give him the ring at his fifth birthday and tell him to wear it at all times. Lastly, let him peruse his dreams.
Thank you
After reading the letter , they were delighted and thought that they had received the grace of god and they named the boy Zen. The villagers and their neighbors were also happy for them as they had an adorable boy as their son . Zen was growing happily as he received the care and affection from his family as well as the villagers .
Meanwhile, their country was becoming chaotic and lawless day by day after the sudden disappearance of the Magic king few years back . The effect was slowly seen in the village as many villagers were taken as slaves by the nobles of the capital . There were problems in the villages but still the people behaved calmly as they did not want everyone to be killed as they were warned by the nobles that if anyone dared to complain to the knights ,then everyone in the village would be killed .
(knights : people who work for the welfare of people of the kingdom)
Those problems aside , Zen fifth birthday was approaching which everyone looked forward to.
Zen was very especially excited as his parents told him that he was going to get a special birthday present in his fifth birthday .
Finally the much awaited day had arrived ,Zen was turning five and everyone from the village had assembled in his house in order to celebrate his birthday.
Zen was getting ready along with his mother to attend his birthday .His mother had dressed him in fine clothes and was taking out the berry and the ring which was supposed to be given in his birthday .When she had taken it out strange noise could be heard from the hall where everyone had assembled . The screams of the dying people could be heard clearly and one of the screams told them to run away.
Zen was frightened as well as his mother . When his mother heard of footsteps approaching nearer and nearer she quickly fed Zen the berry and made him wear the ring .They even made a promise that Zen would never loose the ring and wear it at all times .After that his mother told him to escape from the house from the back door and told him to run as fast as he could and get far away from his village .
At first Zen was not willing to go but his mother yelled at him for being stubborn and begged him to leave the house with tears in her eyes .He then had a blank expression in his face then as told he escaped from the back door and ran as fast as he could .He could hear the screams of his dying mother and he was determined to be stronger then anyone else to save the ones who were dear to him.
