"It was in my flaws,
I found a much deeper truth-
And it is from them,
I bloom: a black rose." ~Segovia Amil~
***
It was dark. Dark, just like the heart I possessed. Cold too. The water in the pond was frozen. One step and the thin sheet of ice could break, swallowing me into a cold, deep, dark abyss. At least I could escape this relentless heart of mine. The mansion was really very old, wonder if anyone was even living in there. it was surrounded by a moat to keep all the assassins like me at bay, well I would say keep my name out of that list because no matter what you do, I ain't gonna stay at bay unless I do what I am meant to.
"Jason Allessendro, what d'you think, we could climb that moat if you got everything in hand or we gotta stay here for the night?" I questioned.
"Bam! Miss Boss is asking me questions. Wow! As far as I knew for years, now you're the one with brains around not me."
A chuckle escaped my mouth.
"Oh really? Well as far as I know, you never want to admit that but wow, at last you did."
"Well, who gotta take care of this little kid I have around me, you would start crying and most probably would lose the mission so nobody want you throwing a tantrum around over not being the boss, you know." He simply shrugged.
I smirked. "I let you win, Mr. Allessendro, anyways, not in the mood of a fight over here, I was going to be the Victor, anyway, so we better shut up and carry on with the work."
"So, here is the plan, repeating it for the tenth time, you go in, I stay in the hiding, you just gesture me to enter once all's clear. I come after you and bam! We shoot." I could clearly see his trademark evil smile. I kept staring at him with my hands on my hips.
"What?" He said, passing his hand through his messy Chestnut hair.
His grey eyes seemed to glimmer under the moonlight. Those were the eyes you could stare into for hours and forget all the sorrows of this shitty world. You just want to dive in those grey orbs, without fearing whether you come up alive or not, cause they were deep, deeper than any ocean I had seen. And the deeper you go, more fascinating pearls you find, and more chance of escaping this reality called life, you get.
"You gonna keep staring or what?" He smirked. The smirk that could kill you, and I had faced death many times.
"Well, Mr. Allessendro, I think you better stay in hiding. Don't want anything or anyone hurting you." I take my revolver out to check if I had enough bullets. I loaded it and checked for the other one right in the other holder of my trouser. It felt cold against my body.
"You ready?" I nodded. Go, my girl. Is the last thing I heard him saying.
I took the route we had been planning about and entered the mansion, making sure there was no threat.
The entrance Gate was not a big deal and to my surprise there was no Security at all, and even if there was, all the cameras and all the screens around the house, they were already hacked by the master hacker Mr Jason Allessendro. I climbed the stairs in silence not wanting to wake anyone up at this time of the night. No doubt, it was not that easy as it seemed. I climbed the stairs, every step making a creaking sound.
The corridor was all lit up with shimmering glass lamps. The walls were covered with photos, photos of the family, probably. One of the door was White while others were a darker shade of brown that made me guess that the light one was the room I was looking for, cause the owner wanted his room to stand out, who knew he'd have assassins looking up for his room. Huh, dear one! Who knew his life was only this much.
Of course I had to break the lock and who knew how to break into rooms better than me. I have been doing this for years now, that I've lost the count of people I've assassinated. Everyday is the death day for me. I like to play with death and fire.
It was an elephantine room, seemed like Mr billionaire really had a leopard skin obsession, as his room said so.And seemed like my footsteps weren't that light, unfortunately and fortunately everyone has to wake up to see their death in front of their eyes. what is the fun in killing someone while they don't feel it, eh? You first have to torture. You have to make them feel how it hurts while dying. Otherwise there is no purpose of being an assassin, and when it comes to being an Assassin it's not just about killing, Its more about being the badass assassin.
He stood up with fear visibly plastered on his face.
"What the...Who the hell are you? And how dare you entered the room? Where is the security? What the hell... What is going on?" His voice was shivering. it was visible he was scared. His pretty face was drenched in sweat. A blonde head appeared from under the sheets, followed by an ear splitting shriek.
"Quiet down lady, if you screamed out loud everybody else is going to wake up and you really don't want everyone ending up dead, and who's got time for that shit. Plus there'd be so much mess to be cleared up by the poor housemaid." I said examining my nails.
I pointed the gun towards his head and shot, not at his head but his leg. He stumbled and fell on his knees, the weight of his body pulling him towards the polished floor. A sob left his wife's mouth and she came running towards him. Another shot, this time it was his wife. The poor blondehead had fallen to the floor, being surrounded by a pool of red.
"Who are you?" Mr billionaire screamed out of breath.
"You really want to know, sweety? Wow, you don't know me? Ok lemme introduce myself. They call me Amanda Ricardo but most of the time I go by the name, death." I spoke, whispering the word death in his ears. I was so close, he could probably feel my breath on the neck, making him shiver even more.
"You don't have any idea what I could give you if you let me live."
I snorted. "Ahun? Really? you think you can escape death by giving me whatever I ask for? Lemme get this straight, I already have enough, the thing is, I love the sound of the gunshots and you see that? That..." I said pointing towards the red pool of blood around his wife. "That...that relieves me. I feel like I have done something to be proud of. That blood...it gives me life! So boy, I think your time is also over, now we must not delay this right?"
His neck was locked within my left arm, my nails digging in the veins of his neck. I could feel him sweating, sweating out of fear. Fear that lives with us for the rest of our lives until we die. The fear that prevails like an unbidden friend. Like a shadow that doesn't vanish even if the sun comes out. The fear of death.
This time the gun was close to his head, it pointed right at his temple. It was so close, he could probably feel the cold metal against his cold body.
"Now, why don't you have a smile on your face? Come on! You must be happy, you're probably going to a better place. Better than this world though, after all, this world sucks. Now c'mon, close your eyes and let me get this over with. Now, shhh!" I placed a finger on his lips, shushing him.
"Mr. Luciano said hi." I smiled.
And then the room was drenched in blood, the smell of gun powder and the smell of death.
I could hear the walls crying too.
I felt like something was clawing my insides. My brain was screaming with pain, as if metal nails were scratching my brain from the inside. I wanted to scream, but nothing escaped my mouth except a gasp. My throat felt dry, as if someone had tucked it with cotton. My head hit the floor with a thud. The gun went rolling to the other side of the room. My vision went blurry. Dots. Dots. Dots. The last thing I saw before the shitty world went dark was something grey. Something soothing. Something deep. I might have mistaken it for someone's eyes.
