I'm an insecure person.
I'm also the insecurity.
This is my story.

I check my backpack for the audition forms. I find them, wrapped into the floral green folder in one of my school binders. I check the clock, then tap my foot anxiously, not sure if I should go in, I'd be ten minutes early. I slipped through the doors, and to my surprise, no one's there. I sigh, walking up to the booth to hand the lady my audition forms. Her smile greeted me, my body fought the impulse to jump out of my colored skin.
"Thank you, I'll give these to the judges right away." She said, her voice a little high pitched, but friendly. My dark brown hair slung down my shoulders, but not too far. She directed my attention to the auditorium doors. "If you need to practice, I'd suggest you do it now..." She spoke, searching the forms for my name. "Vanessa!" She smiled. I sighed under my breath, and nodded my thanks before entering the auditorium. I needed to practice. There was a big chance I was going to fail this audition, so I needed to do it now. I sat down on a stool that waited there on the stage, and looked out to the seats and bleachers. I take a deep breath. I then turn around on the stool to the piano that also awaited on the stage. I let my fingers feel the keys. I closed my eyes, an image of my bedroom appears, then the balcony, where I play my music at night. I take one last breath, then I begin to play the introduction.
Whoa, ooh
Well, let me tell you a story
About a girl and a boy
He fell in love with his best friend
When she's around, he feels nothing but joy
But she was already broken, and it made her blind
But she could never believe that love would ever treat her right
Did you know that I loved you or were you not aware?
You're the smile on my face
And I ain't going nowhere
I'm here to make you happy, I'm here to see you smile
I've been wanting to tell you this for a long while.
"It's interesting, that you chose to do my song on the piano." My fingers stop. My heart froze. My body turns slightly to the side of me to see glistening brown eyes at the judges podium. I smile lightly, but my heart still can't believe it.
"Uhm, yeah, I guess it is." My voice echoes, stronger than I thought it would sound. His chuckle fills the air, making my cheeks heat up. I then clumsily grab my notes, and my bag.
"Wait, where you going?" He asked.
"I think people are waiting for me to leave."
"But I think I've already found my favorite." He walks toward me, the swag in his walk making my head whirl a little. He caught up to my figure, looking into his eyes I see satisfaction. He holds out his hand, waiting for approval. "Hey, I'm Justin." I chuckle softly.
"I know who you are," I stated, shaking his hand. It felt soft, comfortable to hold onto, but then brought up a thought. "But what about the other auditions?"
"I will get to them today, but you still can come with me, right?" I pause for a second at his words. He wanted me on his crew? Me? I sighed lightly, but smiled afterwards.
"I'm Vanessa, and I'd be more than lucky to join the crew, Biebs." He chuckled.
"Alright, start packing your bags, we leave tomorrow night." His smirk caught my eye as he walked off, accompanying what must have been the other judges. I looked at the stage one more time, then ran out of the auditorium, out of the building and booked my way home. I was finally going to tell myself that I won, and that I deserved this. I smiled wide. It's been a while since I did, and it's about time that I did.
