It was Korra and Lance's first day at their new school, and boy was it nerve wracking. At least they were together though, Korra didn't think she could've done this without her best friend.
She threw on her light blue and white muscle tee and black skinny jeans and rushed downstairs for breakfast. She ate quickly, she needed to go pick Lance up. Grabbing her bag and ruffling her chin length hair she took her phone out of her back pocket. Two texts from Lance, both of him pretending to be exasperated at the fact that she was late. She grinned and walked a block till she reached the walkway that connected Lance's door to the sidewalk. He would see her and meet her outside.
"Korra god damn it." Lance breathed as he jogged over to where she was standing.
He was wearing his signature light blue and white hoodie, as well as his black jeans. They were involuntary twinning again. She smiled at his sweater and he realized what they'd done.
"Aw shit, can't we be our own people for once?" He joked, he loved their relationship and Korra knew it.
Lance had moved to North America from Cuba when he was four, and they had been through school together since kindergarten. With the exception of grade 6. That was the only year they hadn't been put in a class together.
"Nope," Korra replied, "If the universe wills us then it shall be so."
She pretended to be all philosophical and crap, and it worked. Lance cracked a smile and hooked his arm around hers.
"Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to school we go." Lance sang as they walked the couple blocks to school.
"Lance stop quoting Disney movies now and act your age." Korra smirked at him.
Lance frowned at her, pretending to be hurt.
"Seriously though dude," Korra lowered her voice a little, "Hottie at 10 o'clock and he's not staring at me."
There was a guy with shaggy black hair and pale skin staring at Lance. Once he saw a wide eyed Lance look his way, he quickly turned away.
"Ah you idiot," Korra elbowed him, "You ruined the moment."
She grinned a little at Lance's disappointed expression. Then she grabbed his arm and began dragging him towards the school. If they didn't hurry they'd be late, and they still had to go to their lockers.
Lance's locker was a couple down from Korra's, which wasn't the worst circumstances. She noticed the guy from earlier walk by and head to his locker, which was only like five away from Lance's. She also noticed a really cute girl walk by and open a locker almost opposite to hers. Jeez how stressful can first days get man.
Lance looked over at Korra who was very obviously checking out the gorgeous girl with the locker opposite to him. He decided he would do Korra a favour and let her know she was staring.
Lance took a step towards Korra and brushed the side of her mouth off casually.
"Sorry bout that," He began, "You just had some, you know, drool running down to your chin so I thought– "
Korra cut him off with a light punch to the shoulder. Lance grinned at her and winked. Rolling her eyes, Korra turned back to her locker and grabbed the rest of her books. She shoved them into her bag as Lance closed her locker for her.
"Alright," Lance said, "First class, History."
