Somewhere in the universe, something shifted. Galaxies swirled into different shapes: circles, spirals, ellipses, lines, like an abstract study by an absent-minded artist. Shapes, lines, forms - all coalescing to make something new.

An eye.

The eye opened, and it saw everything - all the galaxies, the stars, the planets, the endless circular motion of space. It saw all the millions of billions of stars, the immensity of the galaxies and enormity of stars much bigger than the ones we see.

Across the deep inky fabric of space, into dust clouds and nebulae, colours of all different wavelengths, cosmic rays, magnetic fields and the all-around majestic beauty of the universe's infinite expanse.

It saw across time too, watching the evolution of space and the slow arc of galaxies across the ages. It watched the stars move, gently curving along their paths through the heavens.

The eye contracted, and focused on the finer details. It saw smaller and smaller planets, and then focused on one, small, green and blue. It focused harder, on the even more negligible details, and saw tiny metal civilizations filled with creatures.

They seemed to be consistently having a competition to see who was best, and the mind behind the eye had to wonder-

Given the sheer magnitude of space and time that the eye had seen, the beings' lives were relative seconds. So why was it necessary?

The eye shut again, and the galaxies returned to their old forms. Maybe someday the eye would open again.

But not then.

A/N:

I like this chapter.

When you think about it, failing a maths test or being unpopular is negligible when compared to the vastness of space.

Think about that for a moment.

But don't let it distract you from voting and commenting 😊

See you in the sky(is that the best thing to say?),
