Long ago, at a time when the skies were ruled by beasts, a mighty bird flew. Its feathers were softer and smoother than eternally flowing water, and its wings were large enough to strike fear into the creatures that roamed beneath it.

Those with malice in their minds would hastily cloak themselves against this great presence carried on the wind, and the honest beings below would feel as if they themselves were soaring high above.

For many measures of time, the bird flew, uplifting pure souls temporarily and planting good in those that held spite.

But such things cannot last, and the bird was slowly put to rest by time's tide.

From the bird's nest where she had once lain formed her single remnant: a glowing sphere of the same pure white that had once coloured her wings.

Those that heard rumour of it from the flying things above suspected it may be an egg; but if it was, then it never hatched and simply stood there. Others guessed at a sort of memorial for the great spirit that had once reigned the skies.

Whatever it may have been, it was soon forgotten by the ever-changing beings, lost among everyday myth and lore. Soon, though, something strange began to happen.

Stirs of life began to knit together with remembrance of the bird, and something was created. A tree rose tall, proud and strong from the time-worn nest. Its leaves glowed with soft, pure white light and reached toward the heavens that had once ferried its ancestor.

After many lifetimes, the tree's glow began to fade and its leaves were washed away by the winds. But it is not dead yet. A spirit still resides in the tree, waiting to rise and bring it to life again.

A/N:

Hi.

So, this was sort of on a whim; I had no idea where it was going. But you know, I like it.

I realise now that the tree is growing on a lightbulb. I'm sorry. But I like the story I have, so I'm going to keep it this way.

See you in the forest,
