You Can't Do That

Angela's POV
Me and girls just watched TV like the old days, and fell asleep. When I woke up I was the only one there I think. "Danyelle Christina" I yell through the house. "Nope just Danyelle, Christina had to make sure the boys went to a meeting" Danyelle says while putting breakfast tacos in front of me. "Ok-" with that I was interrupted with Danyelle's phone going off. "It's coach" she says giving me a weird look. She answers it and puts it on speaker, "Hey coach" "Wheatley Burns get down here quick, they are calling an emergency board meeting." Coach says worried. "We're coming" I say hanging up. We throw on joggers and our team shirt and do personal hygiene. We get there and walk in, right as we do cameras are all around us, asking us questions we can't even make out....

On the News
"Today is an emergency board meeting called from Clear Lake High School and their sponsor. Here we are with the scoop" Joe says. "Ok people have a seat. Now as we all know our sponsor Yeti is here and has an important announcement, Yeti" "Thank you. Now as you all know something bad happened at the place we are sponsoring. To make sure our business doesn't get off track we are dismissing our sponsorship with Clear Lake High School" Yeti says. "No you can't do that" is what you hear from angry mothers, "One of the students was harmed that's not good for businesses" Yeti fires back.

Christina's POV
I turn on the TV and the board meeting is on so I watch. "But what if I tell you that student that was harmed is in this room" Angela says standing up. Everyone whispers Danyelle stands up...

Danyelle's POV
I stand up and everyone's silent, I look over to Angela and Coach with eyes that say don't mess up. "That's right, I'm here and better than ever baby" what I couldn't think of anything. Everyone starts to cheer, "wait a second here, that doesn't mean we still can't do what we want to do. We know it's not your fault but we can't do it anymore" Yeti says "But you have a contract" Angela says standing up. " And it ended last year, sorry but we made up our minds" and with that they walked out the door. "Well then" the president of the board starts to say but is interrupted by our coach. "What are we gonna do. That was our softball, sponsor if we don't have one. We can't play"...

Christina's POV
By everyone is crowed by the TV. Zach, Jack, Daniel, Jonah, Corbyn, Their manager, etc. After their coach said Danyelle and Angela just sunk in their chairs. "But there has to be a way to still play right" Angela ask standing up. "Yeah can't we just find a new sponsor" Danyelle joins. "If it was that easy. This year y'all where suppose to get new uniforms values the other ones are shot, we where going to get ghost bats" "What's that" I ask Jonah. "It's a type of bat that helps the ball go further" he says. "But now we have to find a new sponsor and we have to do it before school starts which is a month away." The president says. "I'm sorry Kirstie but you have two weeks to find a sponsor or your team doesn't play" "You can't do that" Danyelle says. "Everyone gets to play but we don't" Angela says. "Well everyone has a sponsor and you don't" the president says. With that it ended with all of us in shock, "That felt so real" the manager said. "That's because it was" Jonah says. "Wait I think I have an idea" Jack says all of us crowding him...

Kirstie's POV
"Coach" "Save it Burns, I know y'all tried but we need to think. I need you two to find a sponsor as fast as you can. I don't care if it's Subway I just want y'all to find a sponsor. Cause the only reason I got this job is to see girls like you smile" by this time I'm crying and I give them a hug. "Now if you excuse me I'm going to punch that punching bag so hard" "Coach we get it" Danyelle says. I hug them again not wanting to go an other day when I get a phone call...

Angela's POV
"We" "I know" I said. "Done" "I know" I keep on replying to the crying Danyelle I'm driving back home. "Easy for you to say you want to go all the way" "You could to if you want we both have the same scholarships lined up just take one like me" I say to Danyelle. Yes she doesn't want to play in college and I do, so it makes it hard but who cares we are in this together. "I know I know but" "God Damn it Danyelle I know ok. I know that if we don't have a sponsor soon we won't be able to play this year which means one less year to play together ok. But we always find a way don't we?" "Yeah" she says. She starts to get out of the car but stops and peeks her head back inside. "Promise" she asks holding out her pinky "Promise" I say shaking her pinky with mine. I get home to see my family there, all with sympathetic eyes. I nod my head and we all hug we catch up but then I couldn't take it anymore, I excuse myself and jut lay down doing nothing until I get a text.

Daniel- You ok?
Me- Define ok
Daniel- I'll take that as a no. What's wrong
Me- We could have no softball this year which leaves one more year for me and Danyelle to play together
At least that's what I know. What I don't know is Daniel is smirking on the other side of the line, because the plan has gone into place.
Daniel- She doesn't want to play in college
Me- Nope but I do. I'm sorry for ending this conversation but I'm tired
Daniel- It's ok gn
Me- gn

Danyelle's POV
I walk inside my house to find emptiness just like my heart for CLHS is right now. "Ugggh" I throw my keys on the table near the door, and kick my shoes off. I go upstairs and change, usually I would call my parents in this time frame, but I missed it now it's midnight there. I was about to fall asleep when I got a text from Zach.

Zach- Just want to check in how are you
Me- Um chicken?
Zach- WHAT YOUR LIFE IS HORRIBLE AND YOU WANT TO MOVE TO MEXICO
Me- That's half right. But my life is pretty bad right now with the sponsor gone hat equals no softball.
Zach- That sucks but when life hands you very very sower lemons you...
Me- Make Lemon Marang pie?
Zach- No actually that sounds good but no you make lemonade
Me- Fiiinnneeeeee
Me- How was the studio
Zach- It was great until we watched your board meeting
Me- That was stressful
Zach- I bet are you sure your ok
Me- Yes I'm fine now go to bed you didn't get to sleep in like I did
Zach- True True gn And don't sleep to much on this ok

And another and another and another text from different people asking if I'm ok. Wow word gets along quick in this town...

Kirstie's POV
"That sounds great. Yeah sounds good ok I don't know if I could thank you enough. Ok in one week sounds good" yes I'm talking to what I think may be our new sponsor but I don't know who. No names and I can't tell anyone, all I can do is meet them here with my caption and co-captain in one week. Boy this week will be long.
